PVP in Cleveland??22 Jul 2004 15:49 GMT2
Does the Cleveland Clinic still do PVP greenlight?  If so, anybody have any
experiences?  If not, where in Cleveland and any experience?
stent21 Jul 2004 22:54 GMT1

6 months post PVP21 Jul 2004 13:50 GMT3
Had a PVP at Mayo (MN) last January.  During the first three months I had
bouts of blood at start and end of urine stream, along with some urgency and
frequency issues.  Now at six months these problems have all disappeared.
Flow is strong, capacity is good, and urgency is not an ...
Nightime Urination21 Jul 2004 04:47 GMT2
Question. 58 yo male... I get up once in the middle of the night to pee.  Is
that acceptable?
thanks, Ken
urodynamics20 Jul 2004 08:12 GMT11
I expect to have a  PVP in the near future to remove large prostatic tissue.
I have been advised to have urodynamic tests done prior to this operation.
Is this necessary since tests have established the size of my prostate hence
the need for the procedure.
Best procedure for very large prostate ??18 Jul 2004 03:00 GMT3
After a TUMT (about 3 years ago), brought my BPH symptoms well within
livable range,  my Uro says my prostate has grown to something like 170gms.
Except for a recent attack of prostatitis, the symptoms are quite tolerable
still, but it's obvious that something will need to be done ...

PVP Today16 Jul 2004 11:53 GMT11
Arrived at hospital at 5:45 for 7:30 procedure.  Actually delivered to Dr.
Te's operating room at 9:00AM.  I think I was in recovery stage 1 about
11:00 and stage 2 at 11:45am.
They did the voiding test at 1:45 - removed catheter and told me to urinate
4 weeks postPVP revisited16 Jul 2004 05:41 GMT1
I thought I'd add that any difficulties I had yesterday seem to have
faded. My urinary functions seem to be restored nearly to what things
were like before I was diagnosed with BPH. I can now pee a steady stream
until my bladder is totally empty and the really good news is:
27% Incidence of Retrograde14 Jul 2004 02:50 GMT2
The incidence of retrograde is often mentioned on this newsgroup without
much data to support the numbers quoted. Today I have finally found what I
believe is the only published reference. I believe this is the source of the
"27% incidence of retrograde with PVP."
TURP Statistics (follow-up)13 Jul 2004 23:51 GMT3
The TURP statistics I cited emanate from two sources.  The first is
from a free booklet entitled "Treating Your Enlarded Prostate,"
published and distributed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services, AHCPR Publication No. 94-0584.  On pages 20-21 it lists
PVP Tomorrow13 Jul 2004 18:03 GMT1
at 7:30 am by Dr. Te at New York Presbyterian in NYC.  I'm 65 yrs and have
had frequency and urgency for 20 years.  Been on cardura and then Flomax for
8 yrs and had a "failed"  ILC 3 1/2 years ago - had to stay on Flomax but
did get some small improvement in frequency.
4 wks post-PVP. Still Catheterized!13 Jul 2004 15:13 GMT2
Obviously PVP had the effect of a wrecking ball in my urinary tract. I
have tried 4 times now to have the tubes removed attempt to pee.
Nothing! Tomorrow I go for a 5th attempt and this time I get a
cystoscope exam thrown in.
4 wks PVP - now almost normal13 Jul 2004 15:07 GMT7
I just thought I'd update the email that I sent yesterday ("4 wks
post-PVP. Still Catheterized!"). The urologist did a scope and found
that my Prostate was still huge and would need some radical surgery
"sooner rather than later." He filled my bladder with water left the
Thanks, Lee!13 Jul 2004 14:12 GMT7
First, thanks Lee for coordinating this poll.  It's most helpful
because no peer-reviewed journal or publication has yet published on
the efficacy of PVP.
Secondly, for the umpteenth time (that I've posted these here) let me
