BPH, rhinitis and hypertension (Was: Thanks to sci.med.prostate.bph)10 Jan 2004 18:57 GMT1
It's a tiny sample, of course, but with three of us so far suffering
from all three, this is beginning to be just a little bit interesting!
I've had rhinitis since I can remember - long before I started taking
BPH medication, though it's true we must discount any stuffy noses

About 6 weeks ago I learned from this newsgroup about the danger of
lower backpain from using Sinex Decongestant (for those of us with BPH).
For years I had been using the nose spray containing Phenylephrine
Hydrochloride (0.5%) and for years I had been having on-and-off-again
PVP-Day +1008 Jan 2004 00:46 GMT26
Well, finally things seem to be going well. When I saw Dr Paibul again
on Monday, the flow rate was back up to 21, and I'd guess it's still
in the 20s - so as long as it stays there, that's fine. What the
problem was last week no-one really knows; I suspect the biopsy three

All's well up here in sunny Scotland, though I am experiencing
urgency! And there was I suggesting it was all in the mind and I
was in complete control! I had no urgency or frequency prior to
PVP, just very poor flow most of the time. Flow continues to be
Looks like a delay for me05 Jan 2004 01:25 GMT2
Well, I'm supposed to see my new PVP uro on Monday. Unfortunately, it also
looks like a major storm is on the way, starting Sunday afternoon.
Barring a major change in the weather forecast, it looks like I'll have to
reschedule. I was told it may delay my visit for 3-6 weeks!!
Sleep aid with BPH? re Tylenol post.04 Jan 2004 18:32 GMT2
Anybody have any good resultes from a commercial sleep that could help a
BPH'er not wake up as often and that does not cause the drugged out feeling
the next day?  I just noted the good post on Tylenol PM post and it rang a
bell with my experience but I had not realized.  I am still ...
Questions from an Australian BPH sufferer04 Jan 2004 01:52 GMT7
I've just read all the postings.  Wow!!  I thought I was unique as a 45 year
old BPH sufferer, now I know differently.
I have some questions and would value as many responses as you care to
offer.
Cooled thermo therapy04 Jan 2004 00:54 GMT4
I am getting set up for a little microwave treatment, should I or
should I try for something else. My urology group only offers TURP or
microwave. I asked about pvp but they said they already tried laser and
weren't happy with the results. they tried to talk me into the TURP

As of today, my urine is beginning to look more like urine instead of
the pink lemonade of the past week. I have never had any stinging,
burning, or discomfort--only a sensation that feels like a mild orgasm.
Under the circumstances, I consider this a bonus.
What should I do?03 Jan 2004 09:01 GMT3
A year ago I was down to peeing every 2 hours, so I went to see a urologist,
he did the rectal, and decided that my prostate was enlarged. He set me up
for
a prostate biopsy and  cystoscopy, also told me there was a 50% chance of
PVP and  healing process03 Jan 2004 06:43 GMT2
My husband has been posting to this group, as he recently had  PVP
surgery (6 weeks ago).  He has been experiencing a lot of intermittent
urgency and pain post-surgery, that seems to have gotten worse recently.  He
spoke with a urologist just now who informed him that the healing ...
Dr. M. Hai, Detroit (Westland) area03 Jan 2004 06:38 GMT6
Any PVP patients of Dr. Hai?
Apparently he trained at Mayo and has trained other docs in PVP:
I've had great recommendations by another uro.
Would appreciate patient feedback.
Query/Concerns RE: PVP02 Jan 2004 09:03 GMT2
I have had (probable) BPH problems. I am scheduled to see a PVP Uro on
Monday (this may get delayed as we might be getting a nasty blizzard and he
is 120 miles away). I hope to get a firmer dx.
Here are some concerns and maybe those who have had PVP's can respond:
Tylenol?01 Jan 2004 17:37 GMT4
I just learned Tylenol has a warning about enlarged prostate. I
_think_ I've taken it with no problem, but maybe not.
What has been your experience?
I know for sure I can't take antihistamines.
Saw Palmetto Questions re Time Frame And Dosage01 Jan 2004 17:03 GMT1
Realize there are a zillion variables involved, but based on others'
experiences,
what might be a 'typical" time frame to see some results by taking Saw
Palmetto ?
