Anyone defend TURP?30 Nov 2003 01:47 GMT29
I'm a 56 year old with an enlarged prostate (biopsy was negative) who has
had problems urinating for some years.   I just had two large diverticulum
(balloon type of  bulges) removed from my bladder.  The uro says the
divertics are mostly due to the enlarged prostate putting back ...
Insurance denial for Mayo PVP29 Nov 2003 23:38 GMT3
My insurance company just denied my going to Mayo Clinic for a  PVP.  They
said  the procedure was "experimental" in the Minneapolis St Paul area.
Clinically, I need a TURP or a PVP.  But insurance wants me to under go
invasive surgery with higher morbidity, and probable higher ...
PVP -You MUST take it easy for 3 weeks29 Nov 2003 23:36 GMT1
I had a TURP 3 years ago and a PVP 19 days ago.
I learned the hard way that even if there is no blood or pain at the end of
the first week, don't lift heavy things, run, sit for long periods or have
sex.
Lack of seminal fluid29 Nov 2003 19:38 GMT2
I'm 38 and my semen has got less and less and for a year now has dried
up completely. I thought my ejaculation might have gone retro (ie in
the bladder) but I don't have any pre-ejaculatory fluid either. I
can't find anything about what could go wrong with the bulbourethral
TUNA vs PVP re: Retrograde, etc.29 Nov 2003 19:28 GMT1
I am on flomax and proscar.  Prostatitis is becoming more of a
frequent problem and my uro has suggesested TUNA.  I am very concerned
about retro.  Right now  am completely retro and would like to reverse
this symptom.  One previous poster who had PVP stated that:
Prostate biopsy and PVP28 Nov 2003 17:10 GMT7
Patrick has once or twice mentioned that he had a biopsy before his
PVP, and urged other people to do likewise. I assume he means not just
anyone, but those whose PSA score falls in the 'possibly suspicious'
area by the most rigorous standards (there is some dispute over what
Laser treatment at Brighton (UK)?27 Nov 2003 10:20 GMT4
I asked my GP to try to get me a referral to King's for laser treatment. He
contacted my Consultant locally (with whom I was due to have a TURP very
shortly) and he agreed a referal to Brighton. I can find no info on the
procedure being carried out there. Anyone know anything ...
Can BPH symptoms be simulated by hydrocephalus? RESENT25 Nov 2003 23:08 GMT1
One of the syptoms of hydrocephalus (water on the brain or excess
cerebo-spinal fluid, CSF) is inability to completely control urine flow. So
far, I have had two TUMT treatments that did not have permanent alleviation
of BPH symptoms. As a result of other debilitating problems, I ...

Bladder:25 Nov 2003 14:40 GMT3
Does anyone in the group know how to get the bladder back in shape
naturally without drugs after PVP. My doctor prescribed Detrol LA, but I
don't like taking it and am looking for a natural way. Any suggestions on
this will be greatly appreciated. I'm 6 weeks past PVP. Also how ...
PVP plus 3 Months25 Nov 2003 14:22 GMT2
After three months I still suffer from frequency and urgency but I do
believe I am seeing slow improvement in both.

self cathetertization24 Nov 2003 22:39 GMT8
My urologist informs me that, since I've already had a TURP and still
can't pee, my bladder might be "dead"--no longer functioning, and that
I might need to self-catheterize myself for the rest of my life. I'm
59 years old. What are some of the problems any of you have had with
Confused about vaporization23 Nov 2003 09:32 GMT4
I'm looking for a hospital in the Netherlands, or surrounding
countries, where PVP is applied. There are sites (Belgium for example)
where vaporization is mentioned to be in an experimental stage because
some patients do have a very strong urge to void for a long time after
