A TURP31 Jul 2003 21:59 GMT1
I  find some of the postings on this NG referring to TURP to be very
different from my experience.
My procedure lasted only 45 minutes which I followed myself on a TV
screen.  I  found it to be quite painless although a touch
Anyone who had frequent urination benefit from PVP?31 Jul 2003 14:52 GMT3
Since those of us with BPH who suffer most from inconvenience of
frequent urination appear in a minority, it would be of benefit to
hear from those who have undergone PVP and learn whether the procedure
resulted in a reduction of frequency.

I had PVP yesterday28 Jul 2003 07:01 GMT1
Having rejected TURP because i could not stand the thought of the 4 days in
hospital plus all the risks of complications, bleeding and side effects
never mind having to have a stiff catheter for at least 12 hours and because
with a middle lobe enlargement the drugs do not work ...
Another PVP Testimonial27 Jul 2003 21:59 GMT1
Can you stand one more testimonial for PVP?
I had mine in March.  I had discussed several alternatives with my
uro.  My last question to him was, "Is there anything new coming out?"
He mentioned PVP and was enthused with its potential.  Indicated his
Avodart23 Jul 2003 20:31 GMT1
The current American Prostate Society update states that Avodart reduces the
size of the prostate significantly. I am considering taking Avodart in the
hope of avoiding any more drastic procedure. Are there any NG members out
there who have had any experience with this drug? Thanks ...
TUNA (transurethral needle ablation)23 Jul 2003 11:18 GMT3
After reading all the comments on PVP and TURP, I was surprised I found
no comments on the above treatment for BPH.  Also on the INDIGO LASER
procedure either.
When I was in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, last year I saw an article in the

Male Sterilization During Prostate Exam19 Jul 2003 11:50 GMT2
Is it a simple matter to sterilize a human male during a prostate
exam? Could a doctor do this without the cooperation of the patient?
TUMT18 Jul 2003 17:30 GMT1
Hi, all,
Recently, I had a cystoscopy performed by my urologist.  Amoung other info
that was recorded was the fact that there is NO lateral lobe involved.
Otherwise, the data indicates that I should be thinking about a TURP or TUMT
Addendum18 Jul 2003 13:24 GMT2

Worst outcomes with PVP?16 Jul 2003 20:03 GMT3
Am I correct in understanding that to date the worst scenario outcomes
of PVP laser surgery has been either (1) no improvement; (2)
retrograde ejaculation; (3) both?
I ask this question because there is no reliable data available and I
PVP15 Jul 2003 17:52 GMT8
Visited the urologist this week, I have asked fro a referral to Kings
College hospital in London for a consultation with Dr Muir regarding a PVP
op, unfortunately he does not believe the PVP op will be any better than the
BNI (TUIP) that he has recommended I have, I have refused to ...
Need PVP info15 Jul 2003 05:27 GMT7
Is the PVP gear made only by Laserscope? If so, the Laserscope site implies
that it will find the nearest docs to you who can do a PVP
(http://www.laserscope.com/surgical/consumers/fad.html). Using it I find
one in the next town from me, and the 10th nearest about 900 miles away. ...
