Would such a script be appropriate?26 Nov 2005 18:59 GMT6
Is it legal and ethical for a doctor to write a script for a patient for
Tamiflu, and write "prn Bird Flu" in the signa, so a patient would have this
on hand in case of an outbreak?
And what good is it if the insurance company requires prior authorization

Is it legal and ethical for a provider to write an off-label script, where
the intended use of the medication is not an FDA-approved one?
Thanks!

Tablets Which Are Not Scored25 Nov 2005 19:32 GMT3
Is it appropriate for the patient to use a tablet cutter to cut a tablet
into smaller portions, even though the tablet was not scored by the
manufacturer? I am not talking about enteric-coated tablets.
Thanks!
Would this be possible?25 Nov 2005 15:05 GMT3
Can a patient request a doctor to write a DAW script where a specific
generic manufacturer of the medication is required?
And would a pharmacy be able to comply with this request?
Thanks for any help,
Did the pharmacy charge me the wrong co-pay?25 Nov 2005 14:43 GMT5
I had a script where they did not have the full quantity of the medication
in stock. So they dispensed me a small amount, and I came back the next day
for the rest. But each time I had to pay a $1 co-pay.
But when I refilled the script the following month, they had the whole
Julie P.25 Nov 2005 13:49 GMT2
When I first saw the plethora of posts by Julie P., I thought spam or kook.
To my surprise, the questions were well thought out and of interest to me
even though they do not apply to me at present. The answers provided an
education. Thanks Julie.

Pill vs. Tablet24 Nov 2005 22:26 GMT3
I read that colchicine is technically a pill, not a tablet; and, in fact, is
the only pill still being manufactured today. But then why does the
manufacturer's literature state it is a tablet?

"ad lib" script?24 Nov 2005 19:45 GMT2
Someone once told me doctors can give their patients and "ad lib"
prescription, which means they can have them refilled for life without any
further authorization. I don't think this is true. I thought "ad lib" meant
the patient is allowed to take the medication freely. Is this ...
Diagnosis written on the script?24 Nov 2005 19:43 GMT2
I'm curious to know, for those of you who are pharmacists or techs, what
percentage of your scripts come with the diagnosis or indication written on
them?
Thanks!
Dispensing a 5-Day Supply24 Nov 2005 19:24 GMT2
Where I am from, if the med one has a script for requires Prior
Authorization (PA) from the insurance company, the pharmacist is allowed to
dispense a 5-day supply in any case, while the PA request is being
evaluated. Or a 15-day supply if you are currently taking this med.

Sorry for so many questions, but this is a wonderful group!
Can anyone tell me the proper format of NDC numbers? Are they 9, 10, or 11
digits long, because I have seen them written as different lengths.
Thanks!

Hello. I would like to know if MLPs can utilize DEA 222 order forms to
order Schedule II controlled substances in states where they have

answer would be fairly obvious but this information is completely
