French Paradox - is it the wine?31 May 2006 13:26 GMT23
Or is it the fresh nutrient-rich whole-food produce bought at the
market daily?
Or is it the healthy animal fats eaten in copious quantities?
Or is it the bone broth soups and sauces made from scratch daily?
studies on which weight-loss advice works best across all who read it?29 May 2006 12:32 GMT6
Note carefully the question.  I am *not* asking the same question that
everybody else asks :)
Are there studies on what forms of weight-loss advice work best,
averaged across all the people who read it -- taking into account the

I'm attempting to find heart healthy and diabetic friendly guildlines
in the form of recommended daily nutritional values (e.g. fat,
saturated far, fibre etc.).  The guildlines must be from an
authoratative source.

Someone told me that candies with no sugar on it and popcorn like
kettle corn are the best "junk foods" for diabetes.
Anyone have other ideas?

D3 ?27 May 2006 02:07 GMT3
The last time I bought vitamin D I bought "D3" because it was supposed to be
the same form of D that the body produces.
Today, I went to a large local vitamin store.  The clerk tried to sell me on
their house brand D, because if you bought 1 the 2nd was half price.  He
Glutathione synthesis - daily amount?26 May 2006 20:45 GMT1
I know that glutathione is a vital biological protein with very diverse
uses in the body.  I have been told by a doctor that the liver only
synthesises micrograms of glutathione per day.  To me this sounds like
absolute fantasy, since it is found in literally every cell and is a

Coconut Oil Benefits?26 May 2006 17:51 GMT18
>From time to time I have seen references in posts in this ng on coconut

support the claims. Most of what I've been hearing about it over the
years is negative! A store in my area sells certified organic, expeller
Correlation between length of life and income26 May 2006 17:44 GMT4
Does anyone know if recent studies have been done in the US between length
of life and income?  I know there are exceptions, on both ends of the scale,
and death is far from being anything like bribable. :)  Though with the
health care delivery system in such atrocious shape, ...

How to determine best multivitamin or vitamin regimen?26 May 2006 13:56 GMT31
There seems to be some debate over the best way to take vitamins - i.e.
single pill (and if so, which is "the best"), multiple pills (how to
determine which ones to take), or "you don't need supplements it's all a
scam and a waste of money".
