Seems like cells are very good at knowing what type of cell they are supposed to be. But, how do they know? I remember hearing from somewhere that the DNA not used by the cell is blocked. But, how is it known which portions to block out?

What kind of exam (blood, urine, etc) could reveal that someone is taking antidepressants such as Paxil? I will have some os such tests made by my future employer and I would not like them to know what I'm on antidepressants for x or y reasons.
