So suppose you have a physician who places a lab order, say Electrolytes. This consists of 4 tests (and perhaps a calculated one). Nurse draws blood, places specimen in a container which goes to the lab,tests are done, results reported.

One thing that has always confused me in a hospital is the logical grouping of the different lab (departments?). I used to just thing of 'lab', then I realized there was lab for chemistry and haemotology.

I need help troubleshooting a Sysmex K-1000 hematology analyzer. It passes the initial start up check, but it is not sucking any of the sulfolyzer reagent. Thus, the RBC are not lyzed and I am not getting any readings for HGB's. I tried flushing the line with a syringe and bleach ...
