PCR early result.25 Mar 2004 02:05 GMT4
Due to the transplant unit suggestion that my pcr status be checked
early instead of at six months post treatment due to the continual and
bloody annoying itching I am experiencing, my consultant rang me today
as I had asked his secretary if he he would due to my failure to

Went to doc today.  He said I could start this week-end.
I'm not ready.  Begged off.  I'm still trying to get some
errands completed before starting.  He said I could start with the ribavarin
for a week.  That way I can see how the sides will be from one med at a

OT: The next Hendrix23 Mar 2004 21:43 GMT21
My 6yo saw my "Mini Flying V" and asked if she could play it.  She
strapped on the guitar and I plugged it into the amp and off she went.
She was playing with the controls on the guitar and amp, moving her hand
up and down the frets, and strumming with everything she had.  The ...
Starting on the 30th23 Mar 2004 19:07 GMT5
I haven't posted in a while. During that time I had a biopsy and blood
work done and was determined to be geno 2b. I am entering a study
group aimed at genotype 2 & 3 patients. The drug company (Hoffmann-La
Roche) is going to determine the effectiveness of 16 weeks of
Chant Uhmmmmm23 Mar 2004 15:03 GMT5
I have discovered a relaxation technique first practiced by the ancient
Chinese, somewhere during the Mezazoic Era.  You probably wonder where
the Chinese got their zest for large, wide mouth pottery.  The pottery
were actually made as musical instruments, not for storing things in. ...
Went to my Doctors today - First shot wednesday23 Mar 2004 12:39 GMT4
Saw my doctor today and got permission from my insurance company to finally
begin treatment.  Had blood drawn (4 huge tubes) to get a virus baseline and
to verify my genotype.  They will deliver the meds Wednesday Pegasys
(peginterferon Alfa-2a) and ribavirin and my first shot will ...
Cat Scan23 Mar 2004 12:22 GMT7
Just thought some one might have some more info. I got the results of a cat
scan and it was determined that my liver has cirrhosis, it also showed that
the spleen was enlarged a little. They also found a heart murmur when the
doc checked me out, this coupled with high blood pressure ...
Finally Told Mom23 Mar 2004 12:18 GMT10
I completed another item on my list of things to do.  Tell Mom.  I've been
keeping the hep from my Mom since I found out about 9 years ago.  I figured
I wasn't going to be able to keep it from her during the next six months
though, so finally called and told her today. She is one of ...
Light at the end of the Tunnel?23 Mar 2004 05:35 GMT19
I opened what I hope will be my last ever bottle of Riba earlier this week.
Shot #46 due tomorrow.  I can't wait to get this tx over with and join the
ranks of the Royal Order of Dragonslayers!!  I'm really looking forward to a
night of undisturbed sleep and awakening feelin' fine.

Question ???22 Mar 2004 16:12 GMT34
I will be doing # 41 Friday and I have found that the past 2 weeks I have
felt the worse that I have ever been. I'm having more really bad days
(nausea, ache, typical flu-like symptoms).  Has anybody else experienced
this?
wife strife22 Mar 2004 00:54 GMT27
I'm midway through tx. I feel pretty OK, just tired and brain fog.
My wife of 20 years and I have always had a hard-headed relationship.
She's a razor-tongued redheaded daughter of a politician. We go
toe-to-toe on lots of issues. I like that. Except now it's easier for
Insurance Approved21 Mar 2004 18:25 GMT26
Well, it is in.  After almost three weeks of run arounds, it is finally
pre-approved.  They want me to send them records from my medical record
though.  I'm a little nervous about that.  No one has mentioned pre existing
condition.  Just want to make sure it doesn't come up.
Bits and Pieces (on-topic)21 Mar 2004 06:38 GMT17
Got some good news yesterday.  You probably remember me saying that I
thought I'd relapsed because my LFT's spiked while still on tx.  Got my
end of tx PCR results and I was still undetectable during my last week
taking drugs.  I'll have a pretty good idea whether I got my SVR the
