HI everyone,
I do volunteer work for the regional vocational epilepsy center in

Generics not equivalent29 Oct 2003 06:27 GMT1
There was a message regarding generic Dilantin, but I can't seem to relocate
it.
Anyway, I sent a note to the FDA regarding my experience with generic
Dilantin - that is, it didn't work as well as the brand version. They sent
Sugar28 Oct 2003 19:31 GMT1
I seem to be posting a lot recently, but just this one more and I'll stop.
My question is if anyone has any experience with sugar triggering absence
seizures? I've become suspicious when a log I've been keeping mentions
having a sugary cereal or soft drink prior to having these ...
Re: effectiveness of Keppra28 Oct 2003 04:45 GMT7
Just as an update to my earlier posts, now 13 weeks on keppra & still
seizure free.  Only 3 more weeks to a personal best.  Wife & kids have
noticed a small increase in "depressive moods", but that could also be
due to other factors (1 daughter about to have knee surgery, other
symptoms: lamictal vs. epilepsy itself?27 Oct 2003 18:56 GMT2
I have been on lamictal for about 3 months now, after switching from
sodium valproate (depakote).  So far, so good - no more hair falling
out, lost some weight, seizures controlled pretty completely (except
if I miss a dose).  I'm on a VERY low dose; I kept increading to 200
concerned26 Oct 2003 06:31 GMT4
first of all, I have TLE (right side), tried all meds, currently on
Keppra & Tegretol (10 weeks seizure free-another 6 weeks for a personal
best), so I reckon I know a little about epilepsy.
However, the reason for the post is not to do with me.  Recently my
Low blood pressure22 Oct 2003 02:24 GMT3
Upon changing doctors, I had to have yet another medical and my blood
pressure was again pronounced v. low and on the boundaries of
hypotension (90/60).  Is this due to AEDs or epilepsy, or is it just
genetic and something I have to live with?
EPILEPTIC or PERSON WITH EPILEPSY?21 Oct 2003 04:27 GMT26
Howdy!
Bob thought that the other thread was getting a bit long so I just thought
that I'd start a new one so people don't have to follow a thread for 10
miles.

We just received this experience.  This is a warning about substituting
generic AEDs.

Great News19 Oct 2003 02:27 GMT3
I went to my neurologist on Wednesday and heard words I never thought I
would hear.  "Come back in one year".  I've never gone that long in between
appointments and it feels so good. I'm completely off all medications and
just on the VNS.  I haven't even had a small seizure in ...
Tremours18 Oct 2003 19:58 GMT1
I've had tle for a few years now, but have only just identified what may be
a significant pattern. Every time I concentrate on any intellectual type
activity for more then a few minutes, I get tremors bad enough that it takes
2 hands to hit any individual key on my keyboard - one to ...

another eeg, I don't want one15 Oct 2003 15:28 GMT5
My neuro wants me to get another eeg. It's been years since I've had one but
he wants one to look for normal activity. I don't want to waist my time or
money. I've been doing good. I haven't had any seizures in a while. I'm only
on 400mg of Tegretol and seem to be doing good. I ...
seizure?15 Oct 2003 13:43 GMT4
Hi. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but it seems the most
relevant place to ask a question... so firstly, apologies if it isn't.
The question is basically about an experience I had - last night, I went out to
a bar, without having eaten a proper lunch or a meal ...
