Blood sugars up/blood sugars down25 Jul 2008 04:14 GMT40
I am relatively new at all of this, but it's amazing to me what makes a
blood glucose level go up and what keeps it steady.
I had "burgers" for dinner with onions and mushrooms and a few new potatoes
(the really small ones). My blood sugar was 80 two hours after. The burgers

I had a discussion with the diabetes educator today. She's probably as
proactive as they come. She has a passion for all things diabetes. And,
more importantly, I trust her.
I talked to her about the 1 hour versus 2 hour versus 1 hour and 2 hour

Visinopril and Coughing25 Jul 2008 03:34 GMT33
I've been taking Visinopril for over two months, and during that time I've
had a dry cough.  It is SO ANNOYING, and totally non productive.  It seems
the second I try to sleep the coughing starts.  I keep cloraseptic by my bed
so I can numb my throat and stop the terrible tickle ...

Sorry to be such a pain with questions today...here's another25 Jul 2008 03:02 GMT9
Right before lunch at noon, I was at 111. At 1:30, I was 121 and I
felt fine. I had string cheese and a few peanut M&M's. I just checked
it an hour later at 2:30 and it is now 75. I am sooo tired. I am at
work and want to put my head down. If it is is still in the normal
Is diabetes curable or controllable?25 Jul 2008 02:38 GMT8
I only ask as since I have been exercising, my numbers have been much
lower.  If I stop exercising for say, a week or two, will they go back
up? Can I get rid of diabetes altogether? Or just control it?

Getting better and gaining gound every day25 Jul 2008 02:36 GMT4
I thought I would let you know of my progress since getting home from
the hospital. Tuesday I went to the surgeon for (hopefully) the last
time. His nurse removed the remaining staples. Laurie said it looked
like about 35. Some of them hurt a little bit. The nurse said, "Those

Niacin Woes24 Jul 2008 22:48 GMT7
I read about the flush but.... wow... I wasn't expecting that.
The first time I tried Niacin, we were driving in the car about 15
minutes later (thankfully, I was the passenger geeking out with the GPS
in my wife's new iPhone 3G) and I freaked. I just sat there wondering

Testing at work24 Jul 2008 21:33 GMT17
I work in an office and am surrounded by others (Attorneys,
secretarys, clients) all day. I don't have a cubicle so I can't test
at my desk. The restroom is on another floor. We do have a small
kitchen type thing up here, but everyone uses that quite often.  Where
