Hi guys - remember my poor friend who died just before New Years Eve? He had uncontrolled diabetes and was subjected to numerous strokes and major hypos before he passed. Anyway, his brother, also my friend, has just been diagnosed with diabetes.

For some reason it just occurred to me to look for a Google group for diabetes, so here I am. I was diagnosed in June, 2005 when I busted my FAA Flight Physical. I peed in the cup & we had to re-test because I 'had too much sugar'. OK, we did it again. Still too much.

My wife's "pre-diabetic" diagnosis is currently being investigated by testing. She is using the Accu-Check Aviva meter, because that is what she was given. There is software available, but is meter specific and requires a PC

I am on Humalog 75/25 insulin. Because my sugar hasn't had the control I want,my dr. doubled it. I take 37mg before breakfast and 27 mg before supper. It didn't occur to me that the price would double...duh! I got a bill
