May dear neighbors, friends, and brethren have a blessedly wonderful
2008th year since the birth of our LORD Jesus Christ as the Son of
Man ...
Update with the nurse18 Apr 2008 23:11 GMT2
I called today and reported my numbers.  I have been injecting 14 units and
he (not the nurse I saw) said to stay with that for now.  I have had some
high numbers, but also some much lower ones including one hypo.  Oddly my
lowest numbers are coming after dinner.  That didn't ...
Funny thing happened at the Apple shop today..18 Apr 2008 19:35 GMT43
As I walked past the shop I saw a nice keyboard, very thin, flat style and
the usual large monitors. I clicked on a key to get the feel and when the
screensaver stopped at the click, a shot of me suddenly filled the entire
screen, lol. Shocked me seeing myself appear like that ...
Testing for the newly diagnosed18 Apr 2008 13:50 GMT10
My surgery, with a specialist diabetic nurse, tell me that they have
stopped giving out test kits to the newly diagnosed because they weren't
seeing any real benefit.
They now put you on diet and exercise initially, then test you after 3
Clocks and liver dumps, grump...18 Apr 2008 13:48 GMT9
I haven't had a liver dump for months - August springs to mind. But
this morning I was 8.0 after my normal Sunday morning karate session,
grrr!
I suppose I'll enjoy the late evenings - but only once my body's
Exercise (walking)18 Apr 2008 13:41 GMT6
reading the various (sometimes conflicting) literature on health,
exercise, and diabetes I see that half an hour's exercise three to four
times a week should make a significant difference.
Reading other literature the recommended daily exercise is 10,000 steps.
Introducing myself18 Apr 2008 13:32 GMT7
I thought it polite to introduce myself, though I expect to be only an
occasional poster, I will probably lurk on this group to help me learn from
others.
I am a 59 year old male and have just been told I have type2 diabetes, but
Hardly a surprise18 Apr 2008 12:17 GMT21
G'day G'day Folks,
Strange how often valid conclusions have been reached here through
the collective wisdom of those posting.  One such conclusion is that
while eating fruit is often OK for T2s drinking fruit juice is not
Hypo.  Gah!18 Apr 2008 07:47 GMT7
Last night my BG plummeted after dinner.  It ended up at a normal number
(81), but still the rapidity of the drop was scary.
Now tonight I had a hypo!  My dinner was one I have eaten several times
before.  One 6" rice crust pizza (not actual rice but rice flour and other
Which meter18 Apr 2008 05:42 GMT9
Don't want to start a "mine is better than yours" war, but are all the
meters equal.  Seems like the manufacturers operate on the ink-jet
printer theory, the meters are low cost, or free (after rebates); what
costs are the refills.
Grosss. My salad had this....F McDonalds18 Apr 2008 02:27 GMT62
Ok, so, I am really trying to eat the right foods, but again, failing
horribly at it. I went to McDonald's today on my lunch and thought I
would get a salad.  I hate salad, but I know it is good for you, so I
ordered one.
Feel like crap!18 Apr 2008 00:30 GMT17
So far this lantus stuff isn't working well for me at all.  Now granted I
did stop the Januvia but it didn't seem like that was doing anything for me.
The only real change I've made in my food is to add back in a lunch.  It has
to be very small because I just can't seem to bring ...

I do eat healthily and try to stave off sugar cravings with sugar-free
Breakfast Question17 Apr 2008 22:33 GMT10
The skinny.... I was diagnosed with type 2 less than a year ago. I am
using Metformin and Glimepiride (2x daily) to help control.
My questions.....
If I DO NOT eat breakfast (even a snack) in the morning I show no
PING: Tiger Lily (Kate) re: hypothyroidism17 Apr 2008 22:23 GMT16
Hi Kate, I really didn't want to post another message to the troll
thread that's currently going, but you said something interesting that
I'd like to discuss further.
> untreated hypothyroid for 3 years because my GP didn't want to add
