Iron in Diabetes Development15 Aug 2007 13:54 GMT17
<<snip>>
Elevated iron stores, reflected in elevated plasma ferritin levels,
may induce baseline metabolic abnormalities that ultimately result in
diabetes.

Anyone take Collagen Supplements ?15 Aug 2007 09:49 GMT33
i read some research where it said that diabetics produce only 50% of the
collagen (a protein forming the skin and connective tissue) that normal
people do
and so i decided to look at supplements
BMJ and testing again15 Aug 2007 08:34 GMT52
The paper version of the BMJ, with the article deciding that testing
is a waste of time, came out today. Unfortunately, the debate on-line
about it got neatly sidestepped (read, ignored), and the editorial by
this smug-looking bastard
Newbie question: Do you re-use lancets?15 Aug 2007 08:30 GMT52
I am supposed to test 3 times a day. This is not the "greenest" issue,
but somehow I do find it quite wasteful to discard a lancet after one
use.
I talked to nurses and staffers about it and every reason they gave me
Food Made and Sold by Large Publicly Traded Companies is the Enemy15 Aug 2007 05:31 GMT19
"Do not eat food produced by publicly traded corporations. Remember,
large publicly traded companies are the enemy. They are producing
food
that is genetically modified, loaded with chemicals, growth hormones,
Question on FBG15 Aug 2007 01:35 GMT22
I've been reading this group for a couple days, this is my first
post.  I have a quick question about what an FBG is.  Is it just the
reading done first thing in the morning or is it also readings done
before lunch/dinner?  I'm curious because I've just started trialing a

Are all magnificant citizens. Have a great day.
Medic Alert has pissed me off14 Aug 2007 23:18 GMT19
I joined recently and ordered an emblem.  The whole point of this is for
the emblem to speak for you when you can't speak for yourself.  Well,
what I say when I'm conscious is to not give me IV glucose, but give me
saline instead.  That is what I wanted Medic Alert for.
Obese 'under-report' sugar intake14 Aug 2007 21:43 GMT2
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6933799.stm
Obese people underestimate the amount of sugar they eat, making
studies into the condition based on self-reporting very unreliable, UK
researchers say.
Carb Addiction -----14 Aug 2007 20:31 GMT12
Addiction is a very poor word. It implies that the person cannot solve
a problem.   In so many cases that is proven to be untrue.
We condition ourselves to avoid self restraint and our rich
society allows the use of this excuse.

Buh Bye TCBY14 Aug 2007 16:26 GMT14
In the name of science (really, that's my story and I'm stickin' with it) I
had a 12 oz. frozen yogurt yesterday and another one tonight.
Now this isn't the best scientifically, because I did not check my BG before
eating the treats.  The VA gives me 50 strips per 90 days, so I'm ...
Higher BG in a.m. WHY?14 Aug 2007 16:14 GMT32
Now here's where I'd like to know opinions and theories. Science is
also welcome. Factual science is even better. Why is my husband's
(Andrew)BG higher in the morning after eating breakfast? His everyday
breakfast includes coffee, w/ heavy cream, stevia, veggies such as
Back to work tomorrow14 Aug 2007 14:17 GMT30
Well, I start back to work tomorrow. I'm a little (lot :o) nervous. I'll
have to shift my daily 2.5 mile walk to the evenings since I have to be in
work at 7:15 AM and have a 45 minute commute. I usually wake at 5:30. I have
been throwing around the free weights a bit, so maybe I ...
