Chinese test strips20 Aug 2007 02:04 GMT1
I caught part of  a TV news spot on test strips manufactured by a
Chinese firm that were substandard.  One image was of (of course) One
Touch Ultra containers.  (I had the sound muted for part of the spot)/

L'Orfeo video - Will219 Aug 2007 17:37 GMT1
When trying to load and watch the video of  L'Orfeo last night , it
loaded, started to play and then stopped with a loud crack. I was
off-line and could not get back on.
A half an hour with a tech today finally got me back on.
Vitamin B ??19 Aug 2007 14:58 GMT10
I have type 2, on diet & excercise.
Did I hear something on the news about vitamin B deficiency causing or
contributing to diabetic-like symptoms?. It seemed to suggest that normal
blood tests for Vitamin B do not work properly ?

4 Tests in One Day18 Aug 2007 23:43 GMT29
Which is a new record.  I figure screw it, I'm only given enough strips to
test three times a week, and today I tested four times in one day.  I
probably have less than a half-dozen strips left, but I should be getting
another 50 in the mail any day now, which is supposed to last ...
question for Calorie King/nutritional diary users18 Aug 2007 23:26 GMT18
Question for any of you that use Calorie King or a similar nutrition
diary that tracks nutrition targets that can be customized--
The preset daily nutrition plan (weight loss, not diabetic) calls for
approx 47% carbs (202 g), 26% fat (50 g), and 26% protein (114 g), as
Anyone have experience with American Medical ID?18 Aug 2007 22:00 GMT13
I'm thinking about getting a medic alert tag, but not from MedicAlert
because I don't want to use a subscription service.  Instead, I want
the bracelet to have just my name, my condition, and instructions to
look on a flash drive on my keychain for other important info.
Tomatoes with Hummus18 Aug 2007 14:54 GMT26
I saw an article on "No-Cook Summer meals" in the paper this weekend.
Since it's over 100F each day here in Houston the dishes sounded
inviting. We've got fresh tomatoes in the garden and I had a can of
chickpeas on hand so I made what they called "Chickpea Slather".

Thank you all for the advice on driving, I don't feel so bad about being a
diabetic  now,in fact it seems to quite an exclusive group to belong to only
the other week a lady informed quietly that her husband was a diabetic I
pretended that I was surprised...cas
