Trying to help others08 Jun 2007 20:54 GMT2
I've come across the situation recently, with a friend who's Mum is
T2, and the young lady who cuts my hair, who's Dad has just been
diagnosed. Both of them seemed to get really crappy service from their
GP's, who just seem to prescribe Metformin and load them up with
newbie Q: diabetes and foot problems08 Jun 2007 19:58 GMT4
Hi all;
I was diagnosed w/ T2 about 2-1/2 weeks ago.  I've been reading books
and websites and this group, which all discuss foot problems and the
need for foot exams.
Avandia, Pharma, Docs, and Us08 Jun 2007 19:36 GMT3
There was an interesting squib from the Washington Post, reporting on a
Congressional grilling of some FDA reps.  FDA pointed out (correctly) that
there already was a warning on Avandia.  One of the questioners asked him or
her to "show me" and as the FDA was desperately fumbling ...
Say I wanted to help someone without insurance...08 Jun 2007 18:48 GMT6
... how do I go about finding them?
Warning: I feel all awkward about this, so please forgive me if the
way I ask comes out all wrong.
Here is the deal: I test A LOT, about 15 times a day. I run through
Alli, A new weight loss revolution!08 Jun 2007 16:49 GMT2
Alli is the new FDA approved over the counter diet pill.  I know
there are many out there skeptical of diet pills, but this one is
different.  First of all its the first and only approved by the FDA.
Second of all its not being promoted as a "magic pill".  You will

Byetta Users08 Jun 2007 14:30 GMT10
My numbers have been becoming somewhat unstable.  Too many morning
fastings are bouncing around the 100+ mark.  This mornings FBG was
110, highest in a long time.  Convinced the GP to double the glipizide
to twice daily.  If that doesn't drop the fastings back to about 90 on
Byetta storage08 Jun 2007 13:10 GMT4
I started using Byetta a month ago but have had to skip some doses when
traveling or going out to dinner. Per Byetta web site, "After first use,
your BYETTA Pen can be kept at a room temperature not to exceed 77°F (25°)",
but its not easy to do this, especially in a hot climate ...

Greetings! New to the diabetic newsgroup!08 Jun 2007 05:11 GMT178
Hi everybody! Well I have known I was a diabetic for about the last 15
years. And I didn't treat it for the last 14 years. And AFAIK, I have no
damage from not treating it. Well now since April, I'm on insulin
(regular and NPH). My A1c was around 11, before treatment. Which is
Fluid bumps on fingers/hands08 Jun 2007 04:28 GMT3
I get these fluid bumps on my fingers, in-between my fingers and on my
hands.  I thought someone like the diabetic educator told me it was from
high blood sugar from having it a long time.  Now, I can't remember who told
me, but it seemed like a reliable source. Anyway, the bumps ...
Glucerna?08 Jun 2007 03:41 GMT17
Comments about Glucerna products would be appreciated.
I  see advertisements for their products on TV, newspapers,  and in the free
diabetes magazines in pharmacies.
Although I am sure some people are buying them,  I have never purchased any
The Dawn Phenomenon08 Jun 2007 03:11 GMT11
I have been experiencing the Dawn Phenomenon.  My waking BG has been like
150, however, my average BG during the rest of the day is like around
120ish.  I have been having some protein snacks before I go to sleep (which
is really late like 2:30am usually).  This seems to help a ...
