I came across this paper while looking for the original of
the "pear cactus" paper mentioned by Kurt in another thread.
This is from the same author. It is an interesting study,
more for what it shows as acceptable numbers for type 2's

My doctor wants me to take a beta blocker for high blood pressure.  He
prescribed toprol.  I just read that beta blockers have an adverse
effect on lipids, particularly in lowering HDL-- Coreg seems to be the
