| Cheap meters at Boots | 15 Apr 2007 21:55 GMT | 2 |
Just noticed that Boots have a sale on some accucheck meters: http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1068944&classificationid =1034584&slmRefer=000 IMO, it's worth that for the stabber, which I found much nicer than the one that comes with my One Touch meter.

| Lantus | 15 Apr 2007 21:32 GMT | 21 |
Let me start this by saying that I know I should ask my doctor, but he just keeps pushing more and more insulin. It peeked last summer when I went unconscious from a low from the Lantus. I have since reduced my Lantus intake from 70 units to 38 units. I also take Humalog ...

Thanks for your posts. I am an old bum but I do understand that speculation is easy but does not produce any good results. I have always respected Jennifer's posts. Why be critical

| To Diana | 15 Apr 2007 21:07 GMT | 1 |
I always liked it when MHD was for technical information and then ASD was created by Jude to provide the support function. Di, we all know that we need support when diabetes reached a certain stage. Even Newbies need a bit of assurance. I clearly remember

| Just curious | 15 Apr 2007 18:18 GMT | 45 |
Everyone knows I control my diabetes with portion control because I* cannot be left feeling deprived. I was wondering how many others use this method of controlling their diabetes. Of course, I also eat to my meter.

| Glucomannan Recipes | 15 Apr 2007 16:10 GMT | 3 |
Anybody know how to use Glucomannan in baking? I read "add one teaspoon of Konjac Glucomannan flour to 2 cups wheat flour." I would think that simply adding glucomannan flour to any recipe would cause it to be tough. There must be other changes/alterations. I was hoping

| Affects of other medications in masking actuall blood sugar readings | 15 Apr 2007 06:21 GMT | 4 |
I've often wondered if there are med on the market that can mask actual bg READINGS. Ones that can make the meter read high. Not knowing how strips and meters work, I don't understand the possibility of that happening. I know beta blockers, which I take, can affect how I FEEL, but ...

| Time? | 15 Apr 2007 03:41 GMT | 8 |
Semi-related to my hypo thread from yesterday... When your doctor suggests a change in treatment, whether it be diet or meds or whatever, and says "try this for 3-4 weeks and let me know how it's working, then we'll adjust if necessary"... do you wait that full

| postprandial = after the time before midday... huh? | 15 Apr 2007 00:04 GMT | 9 |
Why do we humans have to make things more difficult than they need to be? Why can't we just say "post-meal" or "after meal"? Ok, I'm being semi-lighthearted here, but I was wondering where the word came from. Here's the definition and history...

| Tip on Tea | 14 Apr 2007 23:50 GMT | 3 |
I had a difficult time drinking coffee and tea because of the acid would hurt my stomach even if only 2 cps a day. I just discovered that if I disolve a package of unflavored gelatin in 2 cps of hot water before steeping the tea bag, it doesn't irritate my stomach. I haven't

| keto-acidosis | 14 Apr 2007 19:28 GMT | 6 |
I'm a T-1, for 13 years or so. I have had 2 known episodes of diabetic keto-acidosis which are memorable. One more serious than the other. One just led to a few poor days at home. The first and I had no idea why I nearly died. I don't know if there are any other types of ...
