What should people check in order to prevent diabetes and be sure they are in optimal health? 1. Fasting sugar blood in the morning should be as low as possible? 1.b Would a 75 reading be better than an 85, for instance?

The Accu-Chek Compact Plus meter has an IR window. The manual directs me to the Web site where they offer to sell me software for USD 29.99 and maybe a buy cable to make it happen. I am fairly computer-geeky, and would prefer to download the raw data
