Any connection?08 Jun 2006 01:12 GMT7
I have notice since I have been counting carbs my flatulence has
decreased. I guess too many undigested sugars were entering the large
intestine and the bacteria here was converting it to gas. Before I was
diagnosed I didn't know what the heck was going. I could have blown up

Just for fun, I decided to do an average of my home testing numbers (I test
twice a week) for the last two months.  I got the following averages:

New ADA statement on exercise07 Jun 2006 09:01 GMT1
The ADA just released a new consensus statement, "Physical
Activity/Exercise and Type 2 Diabetes."  It's pretty good; some new
stuff in it.  It's in the June Diabetes Care;  it's free at

Flax seed meal hot cereal - BLECH!07 Jun 2006 04:02 GMT28
Whilst cruising the isles at our Super WalMart foraging
for diabetic cuisine, I discovered they carry flax seed meal
in 12 oz boxes.  I was going to order some seed online and
grind my own, but was hesitant to commit to a truckload of

Insulin coolers06 Jun 2006 22:56 GMT12
As it gets hot, and I'm now on Humalog (which everybody says is a lot
more temperature sensitive than non-analog insulins), I'm looking at
what's out there in terms of insulin coolers today. So far I see:
1. Medicool. I like these because they're a hard shell. (I've broken at

dLife television program06 Jun 2006 21:37 GMT2
I suppose most others here, in the USA at least, have seen the dLife
("Your Diabetes Life") television program but I didn't know about it
until recently and watched an episode Sunday.
It was a little of the fluff side, but I expected that.  It was a bit

Looking for new Doctor06 Jun 2006 16:19 GMT32
Anyone know of a good doctor in the Louisville, Kentucky/Southern
Indiana area for diabetes?  Should I use a diabets/endocrine
specialist?  Does board certification matter?
Thanks!
Experiment on meter accuracy06 Jun 2006 16:08 GMT99
This is a crude experiment, but I think it throws some light on the issue of
how reliable individual meter readings are in practice.   Comments welcome.
I measured my morning blood glucose for 47 days.  The average was 5.1, but
the daily readings varied from 4.5mmol to 5.9mmol.    ...

What causes Neuropathy to be worse at night?06 Jun 2006 12:51 GMT9
It is well known that diabetic neuropathy is worse at night. My Dr said

studies regarding this, but could find nothing.
