| Back, after falling off the wagon.... | 14 Jun 2006 12:40 GMT | 48 |
I'm back, after being taken offline by a computer failure last month, and then heading off on an impromptu road trip. I haven't even begum to read the posts here yet, but I'm back now so I'll be doing so (not all of them though, there are nearly 20,000!)

| Diabetic Spam Monsters | 14 Jun 2006 12:16 GMT | 10 |
I'm somewhat amused at the kinds of spam that I think some ma-and-pa-shop Medicare diabetes "companies" have. They're really sneaky, too, to get around spam filters. The latest spam I received included a cut-and-paste "10 tips for diabetic blood control" article,

| Good wishes Alan H | 14 Jun 2006 10:20 GMT | 14 |
Hi Alan. Just saw in another post that you are due for a percutaneous biopsy. I will admit ignorance as to what that is and will have to look it up. But I want you to know that you are wished well and good luck on the findings. Had I seen it earlier, I would

| Rice Diet | 14 Jun 2006 07:21 GMT | 29 |
Can someone please explain why the Duke Rice Diet program drops blood sugar so drastically? It seems to me that 100% carbs (rice and fruit initially) should do exactly the opposite. Thank you.

| Two Questions: Camping, Blood Sugars Levels | 14 Jun 2006 04:45 GMT | 13 |
I am going camping at the end of this month for a week where I expect temps to be between 85 + 95f every day. I am using a tent. Besides taking tons of water, my meds, meter and glucose tablets, cell phone, Drs.#, what would evryone consider to be essenstial?

| Switching pumps | 14 Jun 2006 04:26 GMT | 35 |
After four years on a Minimed pump, I am planning on switching to another pump. Too many problems with equipment failures (I have replaced the pump three times in four years), incorrect shipments from Medtronic, failures of infusion sets (the Quikset Plus), etc.

| Artichoke whoops | 14 Jun 2006 03:13 GMT | 14 |
I just *LOVE* waking up with that glucagon headache and intramuscualar pain in my leg from my wife hitting me with a glucagon kit. Artichokes do *NOT* have as much carbohydrate as I thought, even served as part of my wife's birthday supper I cooked for her. Coupled with the nice ...

| Why is Kaiser Permanente so damn stupid? | 14 Jun 2006 01:27 GMT | 11 |
I figured I was helping them out. I've got a prescription for Glyburide that needs refilling on 6/15. I'm going to be down at one of their facilities tomorrow for an unrelated doctor's appointment anyhow so I call their pharmacy to get it refilled while I'm there and

| What is Byetta? | 14 Jun 2006 01:21 GMT | 7 |
I just began reading this website. I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseum, so please bear with me. What is Byetta? I've read a lot about it but I'm still not clear. Does it replace another medication that a type 2 might be using? Or is it

| Can you develop resistance to certain type of insulin? | 14 Jun 2006 00:53 GMT | 8 |
This is not a message. This is a cry for help. In the last two week my blood sugar readings have not gone below 11 mmol. I am now giving myself three to four times more novorapid to cover my highs above 6 mmol, the calculation is 1 unit for every 2 mmol above my set target. ...

| Update | 13 Jun 2006 22:14 GMT | 11 |
I have now been on Glucophage SR (slow release) for nearly 4 weeks and I am delighted to say that the digestive and bowel problems caused by metformin (immediate release) have now become a thing of the past. So thank you to those who suggested that this change might be helpful ...

G'day G'day Folks, It could be that we are living in times where the prospects for people with T2 diabetes may be improving as new discoveries are made. While it is true that many such discoveries don't amount to much, every so
