Where  are  all  the  Oz  people?28 May 2006 23:08 GMT7
My computer has been out of action for a couple of weeks
while being checked and modified.  But now that I am back
on line again I don't seem to see many Oz people posting at
the moment.
wine?28 May 2006 21:21 GMT19
I've read a couple of references to wine (or other things containing
alcohol) as lowering BG here in the last few days, but I'm still not
clear on how much and when.  Usually my consumption is limited to a
glass of champagne on birthdays or some such.  Should I be

Ashley's Story
My name is Charles, and I am from Toronto, Canada. I am sending this note
out to see if you could share your thoughts on Ashley, my niece. Ashley is
your typical 9-year old--vibrant, bright and playful. Ashley is also
Quarantines28 May 2006 18:53 GMT7
We are facing several serious diseases  where there
is no cure.  The world crowding and the fast
transportation make the problems more acute.
In m y childhood, Quarantines were used liberally.
GlucoWatch 2 - don't bother28 May 2006 17:39 GMT13
I was excited to see the GlucoWatch 2 on sale in the US finally a few
weeks back. So I went and accosted my doctor to sign the perscription,
faxed over my documents and ordered it at the fabulous new "low" price.
My expectations were already pretty low since I know someone who had
Lancet Discussion - Size does matter28 May 2006 13:40 GMT17
Being fairly new at this type 2 stuff (2 1/2 weeks), I started with an One
Touch Ultra with their lancets and then started reading on various groups
about super thin lancets.  Made me want to try something different for
comparison.  I quickly got a Freestyle Flash meter because ...
Low Gi28 May 2006 11:52 GMT1
I just wanted to let you know about an open introduction to low gi
dieting that I have written. It's at www.lowgidieting.com and contains
a general introduction and some explanation of the science behind the
GI approach.
font of all knowledge question:  colds28 May 2006 10:12 GMT35
I began to get a stuffy nose and a dry cough Saturday evening.
Ever since, my BG levels have tested much higher.
At first I thought it was because I took a Claritin D without
researching it first (mistake).  That just made my BGs even higher.
Weight Loss Surgery \ Gastric Bypass.28 May 2006 09:27 GMT4
Just wondered if many folks on here have had weight loss surgery
and in particular a gastsric bypass. ( I note from earlier postings that
Phildo has recently and is back in hospital so best wishes to you mate for a
speedy recovery). As well as a weight problem, I am a ...
USDA Food Pyramid Designed to Move Surplus Grain28 May 2006 03:49 GMT16
I've just been diagnosed for a couple months, but long before that I
had summarily dismissed the USDA food pyramid as a transparent attempt
by the USDA to unload grain surplus, as well as an attempt to give poor
people the illusion that they are eating healthily.
Easy & tasty "Spicy Apple Jello Salad"28 May 2006 03:05 GMT7
A diabetic friend gave me this recipe long before I knew I was diabetic.
It's called Spicy Apple Jello Salad.  I've been making it for some time and
just love the taste, texture and color.
1 large pkg of Strawberry Jello
Sorta OT...morbid obesity28 May 2006 01:20 GMT13
anyone else catch that on Channel 5 at 9pm?
I came away feeling incredibly sad. One of the three participants didn't
make it and died at 39 years old, with his 21 year old son already at 25
stone and heading the same way fast.
Eats Batteries27 May 2006 22:51 GMT14
My Accu Chek Complete meter appears to devour batteries.  I replaced
the 2 AAA Alkaline batteries about a  month ago, and they went dead
this morning.  I can't seem to keep batteries in the damn thing.  I'm
starting to think about using rechargeable batteries in it.  The darn
Meters and hypos27 May 2006 22:36 GMT1
When I talk about hypos I men a serious 911
run.  Have had many.  Had to learn n my program
to deal with them. For instance when I
see a high reading indicating I need more
