Pedometer recommendations?02 May 2006 03:59 GMT9
My cheapie pedometer croaked (ok, it suffered mechanical failure when
it fell off my beltloop and was subsequently run over by the garbage
truck) so I'm in the market for a new one.  With the qualifier that
more expensive isn't always better, what's the best-value pedometer on
Surgery and Insulin issues02 May 2006 02:46 GMT14
I'll likely be in surgery soon and spend some time in the hospital. I'd like
to keep my sugars under the kind of quality control that I now have.
I want to test myself, post surgery, and inject myself.
I want to have a wide range of choices of what to eat--mainly low/slow carb.

Diana - Welcome back02 May 2006 01:07 GMT3
Diana,
You've been missed.  I have been wondering how you're doing.  I'm
sorry you're dealing with the depression monster.  I know how easy it
is to let depression make you feel the need to isolate.  I hope you

Although this is only my second post to the group, I hope I'll have many
more to share as I learn more about this disease.  I've been lurking ever
since t1 diagnosis in February, and I would like to thank most for
informative and helpful posts, especially concerning needle/lancet ...
Best meter for the dollar?01 May 2006 21:18 GMT24
I guess the question should be "What is the least expensive test strips?".
I have an old WalMart ReliOn meter that I bought a while back. I was
thinking about getting a doctor's prescription to get a quality meter, and
use the ReliOn as a back-up.

High in fibre means what?01 May 2006 16:39 GMT15
When a product says high in fibre, what exactly does that mean? For me
when it comes to subtracting the amount of fibre from the carb count,
the higher the fibre number the better right?
i.e. Kellogs Special K Carb Fit 14 grams carb, 5 grams fibre

Prevention of Postprandial spikes01 May 2006 16:21 GMT43
I read there are 2 methods to control postprandial spikes:  low carb
diet or
low glycemic diet.  Has anyone experimented/compared these diets?
For the past 3 to 4 months I increased my fats(saturated fats) and
STOP ....and go in peace, my friend01 May 2006 16:15 GMT21
G'day G'day Folks,
At long last they have put me onto fentanyl patches for pain control.
Every three days one replaces a patch that slowly releases fentanyl in
the blood.  Fentanyl is a lipid lover so it moves quickly through the
Inducible enzymes and dietary changes01 May 2006 15:46 GMT10
As I am thinking about adjusting/expanding my diet, possibly including
new low-medium glycemic carbs foods.. ..after good info from other
folks at ASD...I'm not going to radically increase my carb intake. I've
been fairly consistent in keeping to 40-60 carbs max/day for the past
Question about hepatic insulin resistance01 May 2006 14:20 GMT4
>From the reading I've done it seems that body tissues get insulin
resistant in a certain order - liver first, then muscles, then fat.
After the fat gets resistant that's when the bgs start going up.
I figure the fat and muscle IR I can take care of with determined
Can Noni Juice help lower your Glucose level?01 May 2006 13:25 GMT14
I'd like to introduce to you Tahitian Noni Juice. The noni fruit has
been used for centuries by native Polynesians to improve health and
prevent illness. The traditional uses of this fruit have been passed
down from generation to generation and include stories from the
