Sharing some good news25 Apr 2006 03:41 GMT14
DH had two appointments today. First was a follow-up with the
opthomologist who adjusted his dosage of eye drops and told us that
there was no Diabetes damage in his eyes. He was quite complementary as
he stated he never finds a DM of over 25 years with such good optical
athletic shoe source for my mom PLEASE????25 Apr 2006 02:56 GMT17
My mom has joined us from the UK and we are taking her to the southwest for
a holiday of a lifetime. She is a very agile 70+ years young BUT only has
these British health service issue shoes to wear. They are fine in Chicago
but in the southwest we would like her to have slightly ...

Not Diabetes Related - just annoying!24 Apr 2006 21:54 GMT12
My daughter complained that her throat was very swollen and
sore, together with severe headaches, swollen glands about
the neck and ears and a sore nose etc.......she recently
moved house and had not re registered with the local health
15 months later24 Apr 2006 21:01 GMT20
When I was first diagnosed as a T1 in January 2005, I thought my life was
over or at least ruined. After a period of hope, I found I also had celiac
disease. This has turned out to be even worse than diabetes. I had to quit
high school and am now home schooled. I don't think I ...
A now familiar pattern.24 Apr 2006 19:09 GMT29
Some one "new" comes with questions about something they are doing.
Polite responces are over time met with growing hostility if some part of
what the "new" person insists is a valid approach to dealing with diabets
is an obvious unsound practice.  When patience with them runs out ...
Misc. thinkings/questions about pancreatic beta cell mass24 Apr 2006 14:17 GMT7
I've been reading and thinking a lot about beta cell mass lately, in an
effort to a) figure out how much of mine is still there and b) how to
get make more of it  and have come up with some questions.
There probably aren't answers to most of these, but I figured I'd throw
Thanks for all your advice.24 Apr 2006 08:58 GMT5
Thanks for all that advice it all seems to make sense and I will happily
return to egg for breakfast.
One last question is how does alcholol interplay with all this. I know it
can lower blood sugar but that is temporary. Does it do anything else. I

Chung Has "Sick Bastard" Stamped on His Forehead24 Apr 2006 02:55 GMT11
You are one sick bastard Chung.   No admitting privileges, no patients,
no respect.  Perhaps you and Jeebus ... the fictional
character who is the love of your life, ought to go start your own
nuthouse newsgroup instead of ruining others.
Andrew B Chung24 Apr 2006 02:25 GMT9
This is a newsgroup for Diabetes not the religious right ... Dr. Chung
is hurting us by his  ridiculous postings.  We are here to learn about
a terrible illness that affects all of us. Get Dr. Chung off this
newsgroup as I, as one, am tired of hearing from him and his stupid

Eating Bambi23 Apr 2006 21:21 GMT5
A while back we had some venison chops.
Mother grilled them as if they were lamb chops, and they were
righteously delicious (venison is one of those things that should
bring joy to the hearts of dieticians, nicely low fat for meat).
