Overseas travel, insulin, dawn phenomenon06 Mar 2006 01:11 GMT6
I'm an infrequent reader, even less frequent poster here.
Simple question, I hope:
I have a pretty bad problem with Dawn Phenomenon. My insulin to carb
ratio at lunch and dinner is 1:22, but at breakfast it's more like 1:10
Glyburide or Metformin06 Mar 2006 00:32 GMT10
Is Glyburide or Metformin the initial preferred treatment choice for someone

Thanks for your input.
Guess what my GC level was after French Toast with Syrup?06 Mar 2006 00:09 GMT31
I had for breakfast this morning 4 pieces of French Toast with Maple Syrup
(cinnamon sugar on top of the toast too) and 2 hours later was feeling a bit
crappy. I took my byetta and metformin (1000 mg) with the Byetta shot before
I ate it.

What do YOU do about those "I hate DIABEETEEZ"  days?05 Mar 2006 17:38 GMT91
I have struggled periodically with the magical thinking problem "if I
ignore it, my diabetes will go away".  That thought's cousin "F*&$ it,
I'm going to eat what I want" also plague me.  I'm very curious: what
do other folks do when the bad thoughts override the good ones?
Needles..05 Mar 2006 17:02 GMT2
I was wondering if others here, who might be type 1 or 2 who are taking
insulin, have problems with changing from one type of needle to another?

Walking05 Mar 2006 16:53 GMT9
I'm interested in hearing peoples success stories about walking as a
tool in the kit against diabetes. How often do you walk, how far, or
for what amount of time? How long have you walked regularly, etc.
I think its important that we encourage each other to take all of the

Brewer's Yeast05 Mar 2006 00:17 GMT7
Could someone please remind me why I tried to consume some of this
stuff? It would have to be about the worst-tasting thing I have ever
had in my mouth. I remember the old adage about medicine only being
good for you if it tastes bad, but I am not sure that the gain is
Marijuana compound may help stop diabetic retinopathy04 Mar 2006 22:10 GMT2
this article also gives a nice explanation of the mechanisms behind diabetic
neuropathy. I  _think_  the same explanation can be given for the diabetic
neuropathy effecting (my) feet. It also explains why anti-oxidants like
Alpha Lipoic Acid work well for diabetic neuropathy.
The Dr. Biggs04 Mar 2006 21:46 GMT2
He is frequently criticized when he offers advice that
contradicts some posts.
In view of liability I am amazed he will be here at all.
He is a doctor and really does not offers the bias
