Thought I'd try a 1 pint, freshly made smoothie for breakfast:
1 banana, half an orange, 1 satsuma, half a mango, 6 strawberries, one
cup of fresh orange juice. 20 units of Humalog
Exercise and Novolog insulin31 Mar 2006 00:48 GMT9
My doc suggested doing some exercise to strengthen cardio system and
for overall health.  The only time I can safely exercise is in the
evening, after dinner.  I simply give myself less insulin (Novolog) and
do 30 minutes (2 miles) brisk walk on the ski-machine.

Should I be concerned?30 Mar 2006 22:14 GMT15
I was in the hospital 5 weeks ago.  While there my blood sugar was high
the entire time.  They kept checking my blood sugar incesstantly.  One nurse
even mentioned how I was going to have an endocrinologist stop in the next
day to see me.  That never happened and my doctor ...
My smart-a.s wife...30 Mar 2006 20:56 GMT15
Thinks she can cook diabetic-friendly meals. But after
numerous carb-loaded suppers, I gave her a polite heads-
up. Her response was to suggest that I do the cooking. I
don't mind but I need help. Anyone know of a good source
New sauce recipe30 Mar 2006 19:36 GMT2
I made Sauce Marsala tonight to go with beef tenderloins.
My 2hr PP was 106 so it seems fairly diabetic-friendly.
It's also delicious and fun to serve with a "flamed at the table" option.
Recipe is posted on A.F.D. and at: http://www.bigoven.com/recipe160787
Insulin injections for early diabetes30 Mar 2006 18:57 GMT50
I've been "developing" diabetes for the past couple of years.  It
started with IGT (140 to 185 postprandial) and normal (85-95) fasting
numbers, but now my numbers average 110 fasting and have been known to
enter the low 200s an hour after eating.  Since I'd prefer not to go

Yet another first timer!30 Mar 2006 17:54 GMT2
Thanks Nicky, Alan S, W. M. McKee, and, er, Beav (I think!) for your
replies! Very grateful. Sorry, it's taken so long to reply.
I've taken my first Metformin this morning so I will see how that goes down
(and hope nothing comes up!)
Glucose goes up after exercise?30 Mar 2006 17:03 GMT13
I am grateful for all the help extended to me, all the answers to many
questions.
Here is one more: I am type 2. After I go for an aerobic 1/2 hour walk in
the morning, my bg goes up 20 points. I would have expected it to go down
Did a NG reader boo-boo today30 Mar 2006 15:34 GMT4
Was in here checking new posts today when I hit some wrong key in
Agent and suddenly all posts disappeared because Agent thought I had
marked them as "Read". Tried to recover them, but couldn't do it
without loading all messages since early February.
Can exercise and weight loss increase insulin resistance, in the short term?30 Mar 2006 14:32 GMT10
I know this sounds like a bizarre question but I've been wondering
about a few aspects of the exercise/weight loss/insulin resistance
equation.
When you lose fat, it has to get mobilized to be burned which, I
Paging Susan...30 Mar 2006 13:38 GMT17
Susan, if you don't mind could you give me the blow-by-blow of your
recovery from your RH symptoms when you were first diagnosed?
The reason I ask is that I'm 6 weeks and 25 lbs from my discovery and
I'm STILL having shaking problems, and now I get them as a reaction to
