An observation22 Mar 2006 18:17 GMT94
I personally test in washrooms when out in public, including my
workplace. And that has made me notice that I have not seen anybody in
public testing themselves or injecting insulin. (minus one woman as my
last workplace).
Aspart*me  hunger22 Mar 2006 09:42 GMT31
Aspart*me appears to trigger an insulin response and, in some, triggers
greater hunger later on.  The authors suggest the effect is correlated
with the perceived degree of sweetness.
I need to concentrate more on helping people with DM questions22 Mar 2006 03:00 GMT11
That means that I'll spend less time sparring with the likes of
Langerhans and similiarly irritating bozos.  I'm sure the bulk of the
group will appreciate the higher S/N ratio.
If I backslide, someone please give me a verbal warning.  I won't be
Just beginning with insulin22 Mar 2006 01:53 GMT10
Long story short... was diagnosed about 7 years ago and controlled BG
with diet and exercise only for a while.  When I couldn't any longer,
we started meds which did little to no good and we tried all different
types.  Doctor decided I needed insulin and I began injecting a week
Trans-fat ques.21 Mar 2006 23:20 GMT3
Reading the labels on margarine they state "0" trans-fat but the
ingredient side label still shows hydrogenated oils.I thought adding
hydrogen to oil made it a trans-fat.Is this akin to Clinton's asking the
meaning of what "is"is?
Indian food and late BG peak21 Mar 2006 20:33 GMT14
Has anyone noticed any late BG readings after eating Indian food? We
eat Indian food about once a week.  Normally we get basmati rice and
chicken or lamb entree.  Even when I measure the amount of basmati rice
at home and eat exact amount of carbs needed, I get elevated blood

Before lunch I tested and was 65.  I had a headache but assumed it was
because of some med that I take that causes them.
I had some homemade cabbage soup which is v8 juice, water, cabbage,
carrots, veal bones, mushrooms .  I make this all the time .  It is not

Potatoes and T2 Diabetes - Study 21 Mar 2006 11:52 GMT18
Hello friends,
Here is a link to an article discussing a recent study linking potato
consumption to a moderate increased risk of T2 diabetes. If this has
already been posted, I apologize, but I have not seen it, if it has
Free carb/cal counter?21 Mar 2006 10:30 GMT11
Type II and 40 lbs overweight.  I am determined to shed some weight. What I
need is a calorie and carb counter, in a compact book version or as a

I downloaded and printed out the free USDA Nutritive Value of Foods. It
Avandia and Metformin21 Mar 2006 10:24 GMT13
I am a Type II diabetic, currently taking Avandia and Metformin twice
a day.  I am considering asking my endocrinologist about not taking
Avandia any longer.  I'm curious about how many Type II diabetics take
Metformin only?  I hear anecdotes from other diabetics how Avandia may
Glad I found this group21 Mar 2006 04:43 GMT28
Wow!  I'm a Type II diabetic diagnosed a little over year ago.  I was
surprised to find how much conflicting info there is out there.  My doc is
great and he's got me on Byetta, which is working great instead of the
insulin I was on, which worked OK when I followed my routine.  ...
Is This A Good Idea?21 Mar 2006 04:28 GMT18
My mother is diabetic and has been taking insulin for the last nine or
ten years now. But lately she has had a few incidents that resulted in
her being in the hospital. The apparent cause was her doctor screwing
around with her insulin dosage; raising it up to a doseage that she
