Olympic XCSkier diabetic on TV today17 Feb 2006 22:12 GMT2
He's an American, in the men's 15k XC, on NBC this afternoon (4pm eastern).
Diagnosed a few years ago just as his career was taking off.
There was one of those athlete featurettes about him on this morning's show.
He talked about his insulin use, going to (foreign) restaurants, & ...

I used this product a little over a year ago and am trying to find another
one.  Does anyone know if it's been discontinued?  Every place I find it on
the web is out of stock or discontinued except for one place and they wanted

A1C17 Feb 2006 14:10 GMT3
I was at the doctor about a week ago.  I asked her at what point, or how
high an A1C has to be for her to start oral meds.  She told me she
didn't get overly concerned until it hit 6.5.  For that seemed to be the
magic number, for lack of a better term for starting oral meds.  ...
Diabetes and Scuba Diving17 Feb 2006 13:37 GMT17
Just interested in other peoples experience with scuba diving trips.  I
am a longtime diver and go every summer.  I have had Diabetes for 10
years and have good control with oral meds, diet and exercise.  I
experience only very rare (not very)low blood sugar (once a year maybe)
Anyone Need 2 Humulin NPH Pens?17 Feb 2006 11:40 GMT4
I am switching to Lantus, and will have 2 unused Humulin NPH pens left
over. I will happily give them away to someone who needs them but can't
afford them. Shipping is tricky, as they need to stay cold. I am in SE
Pennsylvania, so someone nearby would be optimal.

Retinopathy Progression17 Feb 2006 02:37 GMT50
I am so glad I had not much to do tonight than google
merrily away because of Chris J's news today. This deserves
a new thread. It might also serve to change our minds about
gaining quick control. Sometimes there are trade-offs. We
Eating every 2 - 3 hours17 Feb 2006 01:54 GMT13
I just tried something new the last few weeks that has been working really
good for me. I eat something every 2 - 3 hours. Small snacks between meals
and small breakfast, lunch and dinner.
My bg has been really good since I have been doing this. I started because I
Dr. Biggs: Q on BP and Insulin17 Feb 2006 00:51 GMT2
I'm asking you this because I have already run it by my endocrinologist
and the folks at Novo-Nordisk customer service, and none of them had any
suggestions as to what might be going on. I wondered if you might have
some insight.
