Very New - Need basic food guide09 Jan 2006 14:29 GMT39

diabetes and basic lifestyle changes.
Question about insulin.09 Jan 2006 08:01 GMT7
I use Lantus and Novolog. For the last 3 days my fasting BG has been 20
higher than usually. When I inject the amount of insulin that should prevent
spikes, I have been getting spikes as high as 205. I am doing about the same
thing I have done for 2 months but something has ...

Real food this time09 Jan 2006 04:32 GMT2
I made Roasted Pepper Pasta Sauce today along with some roasted garlic
pesto.
Served all three on low-carb (Dreamfield) linguini.  It made a good looking
dinner and the taste was excellent.
Low Carb FUN. 09 Jan 2006 03:10 GMT7
Just fooling around in the kitchen yesterday and came up with a fun thing to
do with crookneck squash.
Take a look at: http://www.bigoven.com/recipe160336
Later they became part of a soup.
Question on fasting09 Jan 2006 02:54 GMT14
I eat my nightly snack around 8:30 pm and do my fasting test between 4-5
am. That is around 8 hours. But if I ate at 8:30 pm and in the middle of
the night felt totally famished and ate another snack, then my morning
test is no longer a fasting one right? I still test, and then ...
first BG test results09 Jan 2006 00:53 GMT35
I've had the little test device for two days now and have some numbers
however they are probably wrong, but maybe not. I haven't really dieted
the past two days just to see what my levels look like with regular
food, but I didn't have any candy, and only ate about once every 3

5.9 to 5.2  What I am doing.08 Jan 2006 22:08 GMT7
Maybe a combination of the following several factors helped me to lower
my A1C numbers from 5.9 to 5.2 in the last three months.
1) Maintain my weight under daily check.
2) No eating ANYMORE white rice, pasta,
Pearl Barley08 Jan 2006 21:10 GMT19
I see pearl barley has a glycemic index of around 25, about half that
of many other 'bulk' carbohydrates. Does anyone use it other than in
soups, for example as an alternative to rice in curries, or in place
of pasta or potatoes (those of you who can eat such things, that is!)?
68 BG08 Jan 2006 20:20 GMT13
I took my BG 2 hours after eating dinner and it was at 68. I drank one
of those little Hi-C fuirt boxes. 25 carbs- all of which are sugar. How
long should I wait before checking my blood again?
This is the only the 2nd time I have went hypo. My numbers are usually
Low Blood Sugar08 Jan 2006 18:31 GMT4
I am 5' 4" and use to weigh 195 pounds.  I had been on 10 mg  glyburide to
keep my blood sugar under control.  In the last three months I have lost
over 30 pounds and changed my diet considerable (low fat, no sugar, more
fruits and vegetables).  Because of all this my blood sugar ...
