"In 2001 Faustman's team found that a treatment designed to address the
autoimmune reaction underlying type 1 diabetes actually cured the
disease in diabetic mice. Late in 2003 they reported the mechanism
behind the earlier discovery: cells from the spleens of donor mice -

Is this a symptom?13 Jan 2006 01:07 GMT7
Of diabetes, I mean.
If I get carried away with my late-night snacks, about 2 in the

Fat, lazy, selfish, self indulgent diabetics are dragging the whole world down with them!13 Jan 2006 00:42 GMT14

People who are diagnosed with diabetes and who don't lose excess weight should
have all medical support other than palliative support withdrawn.
Why should the rest of us have to carry the burden for people who refuse to help
Itchy lower legs13 Jan 2006 00:23 GMT25
For well over a decade, possibly two decades, I've suffered from
occasional bouts of very itchy lower legs and ankles, which in the
right foot also spreads to the upper surface of that foot. Scratching
makes it much worse. It will persist for days, sometimes weeks, and
Labs/liver/allergy12 Jan 2006 23:51 GMT19
I got my labs back from the Naturopath today.  I have a severe egg allergy!
So for all of you who said I couldn't possibly have gotten sick from the flu
shot, now we know why!  The shot was making me sick because of the egg.  I
am also allergic to dairy and almonds, but to a lesser ...

NY times series on diabetes12 Jan 2006 22:33 GMT6
Last night I just spent over an hour reading the second article in the
series and the 43 posts commenting on the series so far. The second
article is very depressing, describing diabetes in East Harlem.  It 's
kind of like the exact opposite of this group. Every one has given up,
Sorry more update for those interested12 Jan 2006 21:37 GMT20
Reisa called me yesterday and after a very lengthy cry and talk "all about
me" when actually the phone call was suppose to be about her and giving her
support I failed her as a friend like I have so many others. Please forgive
me Reisa. I am very sorry I let you down.

Last Thursday my mother in law passed away   The story is unreal. I have

this period of mourning .  We went out last night and had a wonderful

Hello, folks.
I just saw my endocrynologist the other day and I asked her the
value of taking anti-oxidants to help prevent the complications with

Magazine article12 Jan 2006 18:57 GMT1
I'm appearing in this week's Best magazine - don't think they do an on-line
version. Not too bad - the main article is pretty close to what I agreed,
and the photo is actually quite reasonable, but they've managed to spell
both my names wrong, and the sidebar advises people to ...
