anyone see the skit last night on jimmy kimmel.  it was a cartoon santa
with his doctor and the doctor said all those cookies has given him
diabetes and then he gave santa an "insulin pill".  would have been a
lot funnier if they bothered to do a little basic research about
Lifescan/OneTouch strips recall23 Dec 2005 00:38 GMT2

Only one production lot, and because the vials are short, not because

Diabetes as  a Teacher22 Dec 2005 22:57 GMT52
I teach in a secondary school and am really committed to my job.  I put a
lot of hours in and really enjoy running lunchtime clubs etc.
Unfortunately, being a teacher is one of the reasons why my HbA1c is so
poor.  I am no good at knowing when to take a break, eat, test, inject
Goose and salmon fats: good news or bad news?22 Dec 2005 22:23 GMT6
Two programmes on Christmas fare on UK BBC radio and TV respectively.
The radio programme mentioned that goose fat was mostly
mono-unsaturated, akin to olive oil in that respect (duck fat is also
good, apparently). A quick check on the USDA nutrient database

I added up the cost of all my meds, insulin, test strips, syringes and pen
needles. I used the prices of drugstore.com. The total cost of my monthly
supplies came to $842.23.

Avapro22 Dec 2005 21:46 GMT13
Has anyone been prescribed this med yet?
Irbesartan ( Avapro ) is a new pharmaceutical for type II's with
hypertension and kidney failure.
I'd like to know how well it's working for those who are taking it.
Meter accuracy compared to lab results22 Dec 2005 21:27 GMT53
I recently had a blood test, and took the opportunity to check my
meters. Actually, I only tested two of them, as I have three one-touch
series (two ultras and an ultra smart) that usually read nearly the
same.  I've also decided to abandon the wallgreens trutrack as it has
Being responsible22 Dec 2005 20:15 GMT21
I have to confess that I am tired of being responsible.  I feel utterly
depressed when I contemplate the Christmas holidays which always used to be,
for me, a time of no rules about diet or alcohol - just a time to enjoy and
then work out how to recover for the next bash.

SR-level22 Dec 2005 19:08 GMT3
What is SR-level with regard to blood examination and what does a
higher level of SR signify? How does one control it and what causes
SR-level to go up?

newbie with T222 Dec 2005 13:13 GMT15
I wish I could say it was nice to join you, but in all honesty it isn't!
It's only a few weeks since I officially became a member and I'm coming to
terms with all the testing and checks that are due! I'm certainly getting my
money's worth from the NHS now!
Amount of mastication and post meal glucose level22 Dec 2005 11:26 GMT10
A few days ago I thought someone asked what effect chewing well or not had
on arrival of glucose into the blood, the idea suggested that less chewing
meant a slow down in digestion and glucose absorption.  Here is a study
that asks the same question, they looked at normal and ...
Bloodtest negative, but what does it tell?22 Dec 2005 11:18 GMT10
I have been tested for diabetes negatively. My family doctor thought I had
diabetes, because of my decreased sight (from 0 for years to -1), bad skin
condition, and tiredness problems.
However, he prescribed a blood test sober (no eating in the morning, no
