I posted probably about a year last July about having friends come to
stay - the husband is a diabetic and was eating all the wrong things,
wouldn't listen to any reason and I got into trouble for "haranguing"
him.

I have had a problem with breakfast for some time.  Whatever I ate, it
seemed to spike me when testing one hour later.  I also sometimes had a
shadow effect from what I ate the night before (lots of carrots for
example).  I would spike to between 145 and 155 at the one hour test.  ...

I went to Lloyds chemist this morning for a free diabetes test.
Not sure if this is relevant but I had a coffee with 1 sugar and a banana
for breakfast about an hour before I went. I hadnt eaten anything previous
to this since 7pm the previous evening.

My mother in law is presently in hospital with renal failure.  She is
81 years old.  It appears that she will be sent home this next week
but will have to go back into dialysis twice a week from now on.  My
