Painless finger stick question29 Nov 2005 22:44 GMT8
Hi, all,
A while back (who knows how long) someone posted a method for a truly
painless finger stick.  I don't mind the stick myself, but a friend was
just diagnosed, and I promised him I'd look up the method.  Google isn't

The good bacteria29 Nov 2005 17:36 GMT30
More and more, people are becoming aware of the "good" bacteria that live in
our large intestine, which promote health in various ways, one of them being
providing some protection from a number of the nasty unwelcome bacteria.
Unfortunately, when we need to take an anti-biotic, the ...
Are there any women's only diabetes forums?29 Nov 2005 13:45 GMT25
Can anyone tell me if they know of a women's only diabetes group?
I have some questions that I don't feel comfortable asking in a group
with male participants.
Thank you
What's "normal" for a non diabetic?29 Nov 2005 13:07 GMT10
A friend of mine bought a meter and did some checking.
He starts out anywhere between 79-86 either first thing in the morning
or just before lunch, and ends up as high as 140 1 to 2 hours after a
meal. (Sorry for the lack of detail.)
Poll- -Your Meter vs The Lab Result29 Nov 2005 10:37 GMT17
As I've posted elsewhere, my last meter turned out to be seriously
defective, reading 249 mg/dl (13.8 mmol/L) when the lab was 201 mg/dl
(11 mmol/L).  This makes it impossible to know what was happening during
my trial of Lantus when I was suffering hypo symptoms but getting ...

I've been reading the thread on clinical trials and placebos
with some interest.
Quentin and the others involved in that discussion may find
these two links interesting. By chance they were posted

Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.28 Nov 2005 21:03 GMT49
I'm leaving until January for a trip to visit the kids tomorrow.
Thanks from the bottom of my pancreas, to everyone who has shook me by
the shoulders and given the occasional slap. All the information and
concern was the single best medicine I got this last month. Thanks.
Loss of appetite28 Nov 2005 20:53 GMT17
For the last couple of weeks I seem to have lost my appetite. After drinking
my morning coffee, I don't feel like eating breakfast. I do eat because I
need to eat with my pills. At lunch time, I have no appetite at all and have
been skipping lunch altogether. At dinner, I eat but ...
