Not-so-newby11 Nov 2005 20:21 GMT82
I have been diagnosed diabetic for 10 years, but my Dr's just seem to
want to give me drugs instead of information. I gave up on testing
because my fingers were so sore. I do take the drugs on schedule and
normally avoid obvious sugars. I have found that carbs (pasta and bread

What is going on?
TWO reports today of a doctor saying it would be *illegal* to prescribe more
than some measly number of strips.

I gotsa metformin question11 Nov 2005 16:48 GMT35
If you read my last post, I finally conned the endo into letting my daughter
try metformin for 2 months, well,
she's only taken it now for 2 days and she's already starting to get low.
I didn't test her premeal. But wait... (lol I feel like Bob Barker)  theres

Avandamet and blood pressure11 Nov 2005 15:12 GMT9
Before I began taking Avandamet, my BP was averaging 135/75. After about 5
or 6 weeks of taking Avandamet it has risen to about 170/88 and is the

Odd thoughts11 Nov 2005 13:01 GMT6
So I just finished a Michael Jecks "medieval mystery" in which one of
the characters is a "temporary leper" cured with some wiz-bang herbal
brew.  The scenario was unlikely (thus the FICTION classification!)
but it started me wondering how many diabetics were condemned to leper
HCA (Citrimax) and Chromium Picollinate11 Nov 2005 10:20 GMT21
Has any T2  found these actually help? The aussie guy who runs the local
health food shop in Camberley is a T2 and swears by these. The label on the
Chromium Picollinate warns against taking them without medical advice if you
are a T2.
Note that this high protein, not low carb ...11 Nov 2005 09:43 GMT24
So it really only applies to those who are not doing Atkins properly.

Regarding the taste of Splenda11 Nov 2005 08:10 GMT43
I finally tried Splenda a few days ago.  I like it enough that we'll be
buying it instead of Nutrasweet.  I know some folks don't like it but my
wife and I get no aftertaste from it.

Hi Guys11 Nov 2005 08:01 GMT3
Hope everybody's been doing well. I've been away from the boards for a
while, and while I was gone, I see we've added another Pete or two, so
I am now signing in as Petey.

I'm not criticising any nation here, I'm hoping that someone
reading this in both the US and the UK may have the ability
to start a lobbying operation.
The NIH statistics on diabetes have just been released. See
clear urine?11 Nov 2005 05:51 GMT12
Just wondering what this means.  This is very unusual for me.  I've had
diabetes for twenty years.  Even a multi-vitamin doesn't put color back in
the urine.  It's very light yellow.
Plastic and high Bg levels11 Nov 2005 05:09 GMT5
I brought a pedimeter today prior to a walk.
A nice digital one with a memory.
It was packaged in spaceage, bomb proof plastic.
I walked 2 miles trying to get to the pedimeter.
