Doc's appt19 Nov 2005 22:36 GMT7
Well, we spent a long time talking and he recommended three doctors for me
to consider.  They're all younger and of his philosophy.  Two are men and
one's a woman.  I'll read over their infor but I'm probably going to call
the woman one.  He said I could call in Jan. and schedule ...

Since my shocking hba1c of 8.6% last week the GP took the unprecedented step
of ringing me!! He changed the med to Avandamet which is 2mg Rosiglitazone
and 1000mg Metformin per tablet, 2 per day. Previously was on a low dose of
Glucophage. I did google searches and read all the ...

First timer here19 Nov 2005 13:19 GMT72
Got my glucose levels today... 145.
What happens now?
Will I be put in medication?
If I gain even 10 lbs., my sugar goes up.
disappointment19 Nov 2005 12:40 GMT18
I have sent the foillowing email to the Open University with copies to
fellow students, tutor and course leader.  Whether this has been wise, I
don't know - I just know that it helps me to come to terms with the
disappointment I feel.
Diabetes Costs19 Nov 2005 12:31 GMT8
Repeated from asd, change to £ as appropriate.
I'm not criticising any nation here, I'm hoping that someone
reading this in both the US and the UK may have the ability
to start a lobbying operation.
Black ice19 Nov 2005 11:45 GMT18
i had to walk into town, and on the way, there was a small patch of black
ice covered by leaves. so i couldn't see it, but my feet found it
nonetheless. i landed on my bum, no cuts or grazes or bruises, but it jarred
my hips and spine. so my RA pain started to get seriouser than ...

Recent return after five years of PMR polymyalgia rheumatica
means that today I am on 39mg prednisolone for five days.
Pains are really getting me down.
Ideas needed19 Nov 2005 09:00 GMT94
Today everything changed. I am much more responsive to both food and
insulin. I had my first real low at 63, when walking the dog. drank some
orange juice and got it to 98. Does this happen, just a day makes a huge
difference?
The Freestyle Flash actually sucks19 Nov 2005 02:42 GMT15
I found my meter of choice for now.
I like the Freestyle Flash because:
The strips really suck up blood efficiently - better than the other two

Chromium Polynicotinate and Blood Tests18 Nov 2005 18:52 GMT47
I have type 2 diabetes.  For about 2 months I have voluntarily been
taking a Chromium Polynicotinate 200 micro gramme tablet per day.  It is
supposed to "work closely together with insulin by facilitating the
uptake of glucose into cells".
Comparing A1C and BGL18 Nov 2005 18:41 GMT6
I've been a bit lax this last week, both diet and testing wise.
Been eating cinnamon-raisin bagels with normal jelly for breakfast.
(One half at a time, 1 to 2 hours apart.)
I have yet to *test* what this is doing to me :(
Blood Test results: I said I'd post it, good or bad, so here it is. 18 Nov 2005 17:38 GMT96
OK, just got back from the Doc. I have copies of my blood work, and I
had some surprises, some good, some bad.
I'll omit the stuff that was well within normal range, which is all
the liver related things, blood chemistry, etc.
