| Tofu and Zucchini Lasagna | 24 Oct 2005 07:23 GMT | 13 |
Been mulling over this idea for a low-carb, low-cholesterol lasagna. Instead of Mozzarella and Ricotta cheese, I'm thinking of a mixture of firm tofu, parmesan cheese, garlic flakes, splenda and salt. Instead of lasagna noodles, I'm imagining thin slices of zucchini. The sauce ...

Hello. :) My name is Linda, 53 and married for 32 years. I'm new to being a Type II diabetic, but my mother and her mother died from diabetes. My blood sugar has been high for about 2 years now, but a month ago it hit 190 after fasting, so my doctor put me on <generic>

| Recipe: Not your mother's pumpkin pie | 24 Oct 2005 03:50 GMT | 5 |
Note: I grind my own flour. For this pie crust I use soft white wheat kernels as they have a lower protein content, plus softer bran and germ. This recipe serves 12, which makes it a whole lot less shocking on a per-serving basis than the ingredients list might

I am a male Type 2, 58, whose glucose has been out of control for a month. It started when I had a sudden BG drop and went into hypoglycemic convusions. I was taking Metformin (2000 mg. daily) and Prandin (2 mg. before meals.) I barely survived the incident. While in the hospital ...

Yuck, yuck. I tried some of that non-fat half-and-half (oxymoron: if there's no fat it can't be half-and-half) crap. Problems I encountered above and beyond the "taste" factor and the floaties: 1. I make cappucino every morning. Fake 50/50 doesn't froth. At

| One Touch Ultra: Average readings | 24 Oct 2005 01:37 GMT | 5 |
I just noticed that the 30-day average on my One Touch Ultra never exceeds n=150, or five tests per day. In fact, it never varies from n=150. I routinely test 6-8 times or more per day. Why is that not reflected?

I have been reading this group for a while now and I have noticed some discrepancies between the conventional wisdom, as expressed here, and my personal results and would like to ask you opinions.

| Hello...again | 23 Oct 2005 18:31 GMT | 4 |
Hello... I posted a couple of weeks ago with a question and I would like to thank all of you that responded, although late. I was re-admitted to the hospital (this just a few days after being discharged with a bout of diverticulitis)

| My FBG (~140 mg/dl) doesn't go down, Glucophage uneffective | 23 Oct 2005 18:31 GMT | 8 |
I'm type 2 diabetics for almost 5 years, controlling my BG with diet and exercise. For the last 6 month my FBG climbed up to 140 mg/dl (stable), although my HbA1c hasn't change (5.9%). Three month ago I started with the minimal dose of Glucophage (850 mg) with no effect

| Newly diagnosed, have a question... | 23 Oct 2005 18:31 GMT | 8 |
Hi. My name is Laurie, and I am newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I am 51 years old. I am now on Prandin and Avandamet, plus insulin at night, trying to get the BG under control. I live in Louisiana, and my family all live in the Greater New Orleans area, and have all ...

| Please advise | 23 Oct 2005 16:56 GMT | 9 |
Please advise.. Do morning highs mean I am moving further down the line in my diabetes control using Metformin, diet and exercise? I've managed to keep my after meals readings to the 6s or low 7s at 1 hour. Although not excessively high, my fbgs are the same or higher. Sometimes

| High-Fat, Low-Carb Diet Could Curb Alzheimer's | 23 Oct 2005 15:56 GMT | 10 |
That's an interesting finding. I wonder if the same effect could be seen on formation of amyloid in the pancreas. Note though that the article's claim that LC "could curb Alzheimer's" should be interpreted as being extremely tentative.
