Supporting a Diabetic24 Oct 2005 20:00 GMT32
My husband was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic 18 months ago.  I have
lived most of my life with a father who is Type 1.  My father didn't
take good care of himself and is now facing the consequences.  I don't
want that to happen to my husband.
Finger prick and a half (unexpected results)24 Oct 2005 19:14 GMT11
You'll probably laugh at this - at least I hope you do anyways.
Usual routine BG test...
Expected routine: Prick finger, milk a drop of blood and test.
What actually happened tonight: Prick finger, milk a drop of blood - a
Holy crap!! The Byetta really worked!24 Oct 2005 19:02 GMT37
I just took my 1st injection with Byetta combined with taking two 500 MG of
Metformin ER and WOW!
Ate Lasagna for dinner which after 2 hours my blood would be at about 200 or
higher before with Actos.
Hi from newbi24 Oct 2005 18:17 GMT4
After my last physical my doctor started  me testing my glucose levels twice
a day.   I test twice a day (before breakfast & 2 hrs. after dinner). I just
don't know what a good reading is.  My before breakfast readings started at
151 and now have settled into the 120 - 127 range, ...

Symlin anyone?24 Oct 2005 17:37 GMT3
Went and saw my doc yesterday and we discussed anything new in diabetes
treatment, we do that about twice a year along with regular visits.  He told
me about Symlin and ask me if I wanted to try it.  I'll let you know how it
works out.
Small Red Beans24 Oct 2005 17:01 GMT9
These are the beans made famous in the Cajun recipe "Red Beans and
Rice." The great thing about them is their carb to fiber ratio:
22 gr. Total Carb; 16 gr. Dietary Fiber. Net carbs 6 grams per 1/4 cup dry.
Kidney beans, for example, have twice the net carbs per serving.
low blood pressure24 Oct 2005 16:15 GMT14
Hi, all. I saw my doctor and he said I have low blood pressure. I don't
remeber what he said the numbers were but he told me to drink at least 8
glasses of water a day. If it doesn't go up by next month he will increase
my meds. What I need to know is low blood pressure a bad ...
Byetta and Brittle Diabetes24 Oct 2005 16:12 GMT3
If any of you have Brittle Diabetes and Type II - ask your doctor to
investigate Byetta as your treatment.
I know a guy who it did miracles for.  (this isn't a byetta ad, it's
personal experience).
Mom's diabetes - input needed24 Oct 2005 16:03 GMT8
I've posted here on a semi-regular basis and I credit the advice I got here,
particularly Jennifer's advice for the newly diagnosed,  with the excellent
control I've had.  My question, though, is regarding my mom, who was
diagnosed a little more than a year ago.
BG Monitor Ads24 Oct 2005 16:02 GMT1
I get my testkit through my HMO...including strips.  However, I've
started looking at the Sunday adverts to see what's out there (frankly,
I'm looking for a good deal on a Home A1c kit).
Today, I noticed a coupon in the Osco Drug flyer:
Eye photographing.24 Oct 2005 15:42 GMT21
Another year, another session and another result.
"We can find no evidence of any diabetic retinopathy or damage"
That will do for ME! :))
"Dr. Lam" website...Good info, or bad?24 Oct 2005 15:23 GMT13
Ran across this site.
He seems to have an opinion on a wide variety of topics.
I am reserving comment on his endorsement of "magnetized water".
(Give me a break!)
