Dear Abby letter today - guess the topic!06 Oct 2005 12:48 GMT10
Not sure if all newspapers carry the same letters to Dear Abby on the
same day, so here's the deal: today, in the San Jose Mercury News, the
first letter to DA was
"DEAR ABBY: I just finished reading the letter from "Standing on
Eleotin06 Oct 2005 12:39 GMT28
Hello again :)
My BIL was telling me about something called Eleotin and said it cures
Diabetes.  I did a bit of research and found there isn't a cure claim but
they say it can help. Has anyone heard of this to help manage Diabetes?
Confused about coffee06 Oct 2005 11:00 GMT25
I'm a newly diagnosed type 2, and have only had my BG meter 2 weeks.
I'm confused because I read that coffee doesn't affect BG except in
high doses, but it seems like my BG varies depending on whether I've
had coffee.  I eat the same thing for breakfast every day, and have had

And golly it made me glad I've got that expensive insurance.  I think.
I phoned in a refill request for my metformin on the weekend.  I
picked it up today.  Since the last refill was metformin and they
billed it correctly I didn't think to check the label before the clerk

The nurse recommended it because it is the only insulin in the world ...
Dave and his flamers06 Oct 2005 01:14 GMT60
Just thought I'd start this header so that I can read the info I WANT to
read under each header and NOT have to wade through all the irrelevant OT
stuff between Dave and his flamers.  Feel free.  Go for it.  (But I won't be
reading it coz it bores me to tears and I've only come ...

Questions about peak BG05 Oct 2005 23:13 GMT14
If two kind of food raise BG by 50 mg/dl, one produce a peak at 1 hr
post-meal, the other peak at 3 hr. Is the one that cause a later peak a
better choice? Will physical avtivities, for example walking after meal
prevent BG from reaching the peak value of 50mg/dl?
Anyone using Accu-check meters?? 05 Oct 2005 22:51 GMT35
I've made a few changes to my insurance, and they now cover a few
things they did not before. During a chat with the rep, I found out
that, to my surprise, they DID cover test strips! That's the good
news. The bad news is that they only cover accu-check strips. The rep

IGT and Type 2 kids needed for British Heart Foundation programme05 Oct 2005 18:52 GMT2
We're making a TV programme for the British Heart Foundation because
kids with IGT and Diabetes are the future generation at risk of heart
disease. This is not a tabloid tv show - the BHF would not like to be
associated with that kind of programme - we're not going to parachute

I would like to thank you all - I have learnt a lot this afternoon about
Eat Before of after walking?05 Oct 2005 17:14 GMT23
About two weeks ago I started walking for 1/2 hour right after eating
breakfast and 1/2 hour right after eating dinner. This seems to be working
well for me, but I was curious to see what I could find on the web as to
when it is best to walk, before or after a meal.
