Tubers and diabetes08 Aug 2005 04:23 GMT19
Diabetics are advised to stay away / consume less of tubers in diet .
Tubers like potatoes , carrots , sweet potato increse the BG at a very
fast rate , but what about tubers like Radish , Red radish
(Radis Frais ), Kohl Rabbi , Turnips , Yam etc .

salt/sugar07 Aug 2005 21:02 GMT16
Okay, okay, I know it is all relative....but as I have now become a compulsive label reader I happened to notice that most common table salts contain sugar. Why would that be ?  Then I remembered that sugar cuts the salty taste of salt.....hence you use more salt, and 'they' make ...
Fasting lab test07 Aug 2005 20:23 GMT14
A recent thread on lab tests has raised a question in my mind.   Is a
fasting blood test one in which there has been neither food nor drink - in
any form - after the previous night's dinner (the blood being taken the next
morning), or is water permissible?  My thinking is that ...

Thanks to Jennifer for her useful advice to newbies and to everyone else

Update on friend07 Aug 2005 13:32 GMT9
He's going to lose his big toe on Monday.  He's lost a ton of weight and
looks like hell.  He's finally figured out that maybe he's got to do
something.  IMO it's too late now.  I wonder how his kidneys are as the
weight loss has been rapid.  It's a sad sad thing.
YOUR MILAGE MAY VARY, but your bagel will always be the same.07 Aug 2005 12:47 GMT45
The only single reason that was given by people here, for "testing 8
times a day" instead of one or two, was, that food labels , though
