I am going to visit my mom in China, who has type 2 diabetics and the
related nerve pain in legs. I want to bring her some medicine. Somebody
has kindly recommended me BHI Benfotiamine
(http://www.emuhealthproducts.com/benfotiamine.html). I just hope to
Newbie saying Hello08 Aug 2005 19:24 GMT22
Thanks for being here! I see you are a pretty active
group.....something I've found difficult to find about diabetes groups
online or local and searching for info online just makes my head spin
with all the medical (over my head) info and no real people to talk to.

Huzzah!08 Aug 2005 17:49 GMT3
Exchanged contracts yesterday, completion on 5 September! After which I
move into hubby's flat and we look for a house north of the border. Am
looking around at how much work I still need to do before getting a van
to load, and panicking slightly. So I'll still look in here
Well, that'a a relief.. (A1c Cost)08 Aug 2005 17:09 GMT1
The lab that did my A1c test somehow flubbed the paperwork so that they
couldn't file with my insurance, so they directly billed me $65 US for
the test. Once I gave them the correct info and they filed with my
insurance, it was knocked down to $8. That's a relief, as I'll likely ...
First overnight trip with diabetes; any tips?08 Aug 2005 16:54 GMT30
A week from today I need to go to Phoenix, about 200 miles from here,
for an overnight trip. This will be my first time out of town since I
began diagnosis and treatment. I've posted this in hopes that not only
can I find out if I'm missing anything, but hopefully that it will
some Q's - before diagnosis what symptoms did u have? Type 2 08 Aug 2005 15:02 GMT19
Or I suppose, more to the point but too long for a title ..
Are any of the following common to diabetics esp type 2 pre-diagnosis and do
these things respond well when BG is stable at good levels.

'Nother update08 Aug 2005 13:32 GMT9
Well, it's worse for my friend than they thought.  The infection is in the
bone and they're not sure how much foot they'll have to remove.  Now, after
8 years, he realizes that just maybe he should have taken care of his
diabetes.
Foamy08 Aug 2005 13:25 GMT1
This morning after rolling the Novolog vial between my hands, I
noticed it foamed.  I've not seen this before.  Is the novolog bad?
I've been using the vial since June 4.

7.0 or 6.008 Aug 2005 08:53 GMT29
I went to the doctor and had my blood work done and he said I was a
6.0.  I thought I was doing good, but he said that's now considered
the "high" end of normal.   Jeesky!  How low do I have to go??
Anyone else heard that 6.0 is now the "high end of normal" from their

I just bought and used a home A1C test kit from Sav-On drugs.
(The Pharmacist at Rite-Aid had no idea what I was asking for!!)
It's a Choice(DM) kit made by Bristol-Myers Squibb. $20 US.

New way of eating08 Aug 2005 06:56 GMT11
Now, I used to love to cook. The love affair is long over. An average
meal is at least 30 minutes to prepare, and at least 15 minutes of dish
washing afterwards. Too much work.
I might add that I have been looking at a lot of labels lately. After

I was doing a little surfing on Google after reading some old posts
here in ASD and came across this.  The article mentions ASD and I find
it very sad that the guy who started this newsgroup passed away.
Wasn't here in the beginning but people that were here speak so well of
