Sort of OT; amusing encounter09 Aug 2005 23:25 GMT13
Today I ran into an old friend, who had heard I'd been in hospital,
and that I had diabetes. He asked me how I was doing on my blood sugar
readings, so I told him my average BG numbers.
He replied "Oh, don't worry about it. I'm sure you will soon get it
Clearer defnition of a BG spike09 Aug 2005 23:03 GMT16
I'm new to this whole finger poking game and I've been looking for a
clearer definition of a BG spike than the one I am formulating at the
moment. I know we are all different but I'd appreciate some feedback on
the level of postprandial BG increase that is considered a spike. I'm ...

This Week's Realization09 Aug 2005 22:12 GMT20
Every week I notice something new. I try not to anticipate any changes
because I don't want to get disappointed.  But every week something
pops up and I notice a "good thing".
First was my emotional state which has leveled out and stayed that
Diet, testing, and DA09 Aug 2005 22:08 GMT112
I'll pass this on with just the facts. I think my bias is
fairly well known. My only comment is that this, and my next
post, go some way towards explaining my attitude to Diabetes
Australia dietary advice. DA is, as far as I can tell,
schools and diabetes09 Aug 2005 22:04 GMT25
In some schools around the USA they have rules that say that a diabetic
child can not carry their meds on their person, and can not inject or test
themselves on school grounds.  These same schools don't have nurses or the
nurses are only there on certain days of the week.  Some of ...
Some tips on making veggies tasty09 Aug 2005 21:59 GMT5
When I was diagnosed I had to get used to eating veggies as the
majority of my diet. This took a bit of getting used to, so I thought
I'd post a few ideas that, for me, turned them from blah into a taste
treat.
While at the Doc today, I got a copy of a diet from the no-show dietician...09 Aug 2005 21:50 GMT103
While I was at the Doc today, I mentioned that I'd been to a
dietician, promised a consultation, but only been offered a copy of a
diet for the $20 once I arrived. The Doc thought that was bad, and
happened to have a copy that she was able to find and give me. I
Liver dumps & weight loss connected? 09 Aug 2005 21:44 GMT30
I'm perplexed (not panicky, just perplexed) by my meter readings and
hope someone can help me make sense out of it.
My FBG's (morning pre-breakfast test) are still high, 115 this
morning, 119-121 the past two days. I think I've confirmed that I'm
JI's is your job09 Aug 2005 20:34 GMT12
We cannot expect the public yo know squat about
diabetes.. It is not their job to know.
Today there is gross publicity about diabetes for
reasons less than honorable.

Strip cost09 Aug 2005 15:34 GMT1
As the more open market develops we are see some
cracks in the strip market. We can help by finding
the lower cost strips.  We should query our insurance
providers to reimburse us for strips out side of the fixed
