| zero calorie sno-cones for the dog days of summer | 01 Aug 2005 00:46 GMT | 7 |
It is summer here and an old favorite here in Uncle Sugar is the sno-cone, a favorite for kids young and old. I got to thinking about this old favorite of mine and it did not take too many brain cells to remember that sno-cones are just

| Another Metformin Question | 31 Jul 2005 23:27 GMT | 10 |
When I was diagnosed Type II in 1995, thanks to information in mhd newsgroup I asked that the doctor put me on Metformin as well as the Diamicron I had already been taking. I was put on 500 mg a day. Some years later, again thanks to information on the same newsgroup (sorry, ...

I'm very slowly adding a few complex carb to my diet as tests, and I have a box of Uncle Sam brand cereal (which I used to eat pre-diagnosis) and am considering it as a test. The label, to my newbie eye, looks like it's a candidate;

I've just returned from my first post-hospital Doctor's appointment. The Doctor said she was very pleased with my log of BG readings and injections, especially the last 24 hours and the overall strong trend. She said she was surprised that I'd been testing as often as I had (my

| Yet Another Newbie | 31 Jul 2005 15:55 GMT | 39 |
In May, 2005, I gave myself a belated birthday present--a trip to the doctor. I was feeling old and tired. I was shocked to find that my fasting bg was 475 and my initial A1C(which I had never heard of) was over 12. And I was also hypertensive.

I've looked through quite a bit of material, but don't seem to have any answers.... If I have pre-diabetes, is it possible/probable to prevent it from blossoming into full blown diabetes? Is there any danger (diabetes

| Sports drinks for diabetics | 31 Jul 2005 09:35 GMT | 26 |
I have been practicing my running and it has been hot in the day time. Everyone says I should drink sports drinks, not only for the glucose but for the minerals. All of the ones in the store have a lot of sugar, I would rather just have the water and minerals without the sugar. ...

This is my first post to the group; I apologize in advance that this is going to get pretty intolerably long and life-story-ish, but I'm kind of freaked out right now. I'm a twenty-year-old female and have always had problems with my weight/sugary foods. I'm 5'7", very large frame,

| Progress report | 30 Jul 2005 23:49 GMT | 19 |
Had a doctor appointment yesterday, just 4 motnhs after T2 diagnosis. He called this AM and said my A1c was 6.0. I don't know what it was the day I was diagnosed, but he said my blood sugar then was 651. I did it with Glipizide ER (10mg) once a day and a low carb diet, and still
