zero calorie sno-cones for the dog days of summer01 Aug 2005 00:46 GMT7
It is summer here and an old favorite here in Uncle Sugar is
the sno-cone, a favorite for kids young and old. I got to
thinking about this old favorite of mine and it did not take
too many brain cells to remember that sno-cones are just
Another Metformin Question31 Jul 2005 23:27 GMT10
When I was diagnosed Type II in 1995, thanks to information in mhd newsgroup
I asked that the doctor put me on Metformin as well as the Diamicron I had
already been taking. I was put on 500 mg a day. Some years later, again
thanks to information on the same newsgroup (sorry, ...
Uncle Sam cereal; wondering if it's ok to eat?31 Jul 2005 21:06 GMT33
I'm very slowly adding a few complex carb to my diet as tests, and
I have a box of Uncle Sam brand cereal (which I used to eat
pre-diagnosis) and am considering it as a test.
The label, to my newbie eye, looks like it's a candidate;

Just got back from the Doc31 Jul 2005 19:26 GMT26
I've just returned from my first post-hospital Doctor's appointment.
The Doctor said she was very pleased with my log of BG readings and
injections, especially the last 24 hours and the overall strong trend.
She said she was surprised that I'd been testing as often as I had (my

Yet Another Newbie31 Jul 2005 15:55 GMT39
In May, 2005, I gave myself a belated birthday present--a trip to the doctor.
I was feeling old and tired. I was shocked to find that my fasting bg was 475
and my initial A1C(which I had never heard of) was over 12. And I was also
hypertensive.
Some Questions31 Jul 2005 14:42 GMT8
I've looked through quite a bit of material, but don't seem to have any
answers....
If I have pre-diabetes, is it possible/probable to prevent it from
blossoming into full blown diabetes? Is there any danger (diabetes
Sports drinks for diabetics31 Jul 2005 09:35 GMT26
I have been practicing my running and it has been hot in the day time.
Everyone says I should drink sports drinks, not only for the glucose but for
the minerals. All of the ones in the store have a lot of sugar, I would
rather just have the water and minerals without the sugar. ...
Amusing legend on my blood report31 Jul 2005 02:44 GMT13
While at the Doc's today, I saw my blood taken-at-diagnosos blood
report. While reading it, I noticed a few letters after some of my
numbers. So, I looked down the page, and saw at the bottom "Legends;

Prediabetes diagnosis31 Jul 2005 00:41 GMT31
This is my first post to the group; I apologize in advance that this is
going to get pretty intolerably long and life-story-ish, but I'm kind
of freaked out right now. I'm a twenty-year-old female and have always
had problems with my weight/sugary foods. I'm 5'7", very large frame,
Progress report30 Jul 2005 23:49 GMT19
Had a doctor appointment yesterday, just 4 motnhs after T2 diagnosis. He
called this AM and said my A1c was 6.0. I don't know what it was the day I
was diagnosed, but he said my blood sugar then was 651.
I did it with Glipizide ER (10mg) once a day and a low carb diet, and still
