Blood Pressure Question18 Feb 2005 22:35 GMT6
My blood pressure is 130/80 at the Supermarket while I am sitting down and
relaxing.  But doesn't blood pressure go up when a person starts activity
such as walking?  And what happens to blood pressure with even more
strenuous activity? Doesn't it always get higher? And if it does ...
Are these worth buying?18 Feb 2005 22:19 GMT11
During a discussion with some ladies at a meeting recently the
subject of dieting came up and one woman said that she takes
'Chromium' daily to lower her sweet cravings because it makes the
blood sugar level more stable and that it is recommended for
Insurance/prescription18 Feb 2005 21:55 GMT4
I just picked up a refill for 90 days worth of allergy pills and a box of
100 strips for my meter.  Was shocked at the price I had to pay!  I had the
clerk check the price.  And then I remembered...  The new GP wrote my
prescription out for only 2 strips a day.  My prior Drs. must ...
Metformin and associated probs. Listening to my GI Doc.18 Feb 2005 19:48 GMT6
I went to see my Gastroenterologist (sp?) the other day on a follow up
on my recent esophageal stretching procedure, and as usual, I had a
complaint about my "daily habit" being a multiple daily, or not being
in the habit for several days in succession. And as usual he asked if

Taking my first flight since being DXed and I have a question or two.

Mega-vitamin therapy18 Feb 2005 11:33 GMT11
I have a slight cold (slight headache, high temperature, sore throat
and dizziness -- my pharmacist agreed that this sounds like a cold),
and am wondering about using mega-vitamin therapy (large doses -- I
think it needs about 1g per day -- of Vitamin C) to deal with it.
new here - introduction18 Feb 2005 08:43 GMT12
I was recommended to this group from the Low Carb newsgroup, which I've been
participating in since beginning of last year.  My husband was diagnosed
today with diabetes.
This weekend when he was in the emergency room for the flu / difficulty
Sodium level of 133 too low??18 Feb 2005 08:19 GMT3
My father is aged 96, more or less chair bound, diabetic (Type 2) and
overweight but with normal blood pressure.
After an isolated blood test gave a sodium level reading of 133, he has been
advised to increase his salt intake. I understand that normal sodium levels

If you wanted to screen a lot of people, say at a mall, for diabetes,
how would you do it?

Cortisol ?18 Feb 2005 05:45 GMT18
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I just missed something along the way, but
where did all this talk about cortisol come from?
The first time I ever heard of it was when I saw a commercial for some
expensive rip off on TV. Corti-Slim maybe? The bit went like this: "If
Cholesterol, athersclerosis and Elaidic acid18 Feb 2005 04:45 GMT6
Quentin has recently pointed out the significance of elaidic acid in
cholesterol formation. A search of PubMed for elaidic acid and
cholesterol turned up this abstract as the first item. It rather
underlines the point.

Anybody see worstpills.org?  Actos is on top of the list18 Feb 2005 03:32 GMT5
I wonder if this is serious stuff, or if it's just someone trying
to make money with scare tactics, or something else.  So far, I
haven't heard anything from Kaiser.
