OneTouch Ultra/Ultrasmart and Accuchek meters25 Jan 2004 17:05 GMT5
I am in the UK and up to now I have always been using the Accuchek meters
which I have been happy with and had no problems with... I am now
considering moving to the Lifescan OneTouch Ultra or UltraSmart meter as it
looks like a better system and requires a much smaller blood sample ...
OT: New Posts not displayed25 Jan 2004 16:39 GMT1
I just noticed this. I have my "View" set to "Hide Read Messages".
I no longer see new Posts, only responses.
The only way I see new posts is to set my "View" to "Show All Messages".
Anyone know how this can be corrected or where I can go to find a solution?

Hello, I found this group on Google and am posting this for my mother,
who doesn't have a computer. We are very worried over something that
is going on suddenly with her eyesight.
She has been on Glucotrol for many years.  A few weeks ago, her doctor
Time for insulin?24 Jan 2004 19:59 GMT20
Was diagnosed in May 03 as diabetic. I was 5'11"  weighing 175. I am
now at 150 lbs.  The hope was to handle the BG with diet and
medication.  My doc tells me I need to eat SOME cards. I tell him I
cant because any carbs give me a bg spike (about 4.5 per carb gram).
Lantus and Optipens.24 Jan 2004 17:38 GMT10
I've only been on insulin for 6 or 7 months but I'd got used to the
quality of the Novopens for injecting Novorapid and Insulatard. I've
recently been taken off Insulatard (at my request) and been put on
Lantus.

retinopathy and neuropathy in Europe for more than a decade.
Risk of stroke linear with a1c24 Jan 2004 11:54 GMT6
Again as with heart disease, there is a risk that is linear with normal to
diabetic levels of a1c, each percent of a1c increases the risk of stroke:

Mail order diabetic supplies -are they cheaper?24 Jan 2004 05:47 GMT19
I could ask my druggist, and talk to some 'voice' at a Liberty Mutual
phone number......
But I thought this group might give me 6 or 10 more-balenced views.

Shout Out - Supplements24 Jan 2004 05:44 GMT46
What kind of dietary supplements are people using?
I'm taking 3000 mg Fish Oil and Folic Acid.
Just want to see if I'm missing something (insert smart-aleck remark here).
Meter Calibration24 Jan 2004 05:34 GMT13
My Lifescan OneTouch Ultra meter is showing a test solution calibration
reading below the test strip range listed on the vial (106-143mg/dL). I have
done two tests with resulting readings of 99 and 103 mg/dL. Vial code has
been correctly set in the meter and the calibration solution ...
No colds, sinus infections or flu for a whole year today24 Jan 2004 01:25 GMT11
I am not kidding. None. In part, it may be due to having no insurance
and all the antibiotics i could ever want. Or that's the way it seemed.
I'd sneeze and they'd give me a big ol' bottle of 'em. Lord knew I was
going to go in to pnuemonia or bronchitis.  I am a diabetic after all.
new member with type 124 Jan 2004 00:02 GMT2
Hi all. I'm new to this newsgroup. I am a type 1, have been since Feb. 1968
when I was 10 months old. I have other health issues such as high blood
pressure (may be medicine related), visual migraines, and maybe diabetic
diarrhea. I also have many other autoimmune issues, such as: ...
