Doctors vary03 Dec 2003 00:04 GMT3
It is  not easy for a good doctor.   He wants what best fits
the patient.  He must look at each patient and try to
determine how to handle them.  Some patients need a fixed
routine,   Others do take charge of much of their
Way to be wrong02 Dec 2003 22:04 GMT2
The first step is to decide what you want to
believe with looking at the facts.
Then you only look for data that will support
your assumption and discard anything or
what does protein do?02 Dec 2003 21:34 GMT46
What does protein do to affect the carbohydrates?  I understand it slows the
absorption of them, but it does not prevent a spike, right?  How does that
work?
When I ate waffles and syrup, it spiked at 178 at 1 hour and 155 at 2 hours.
question about softclix pen02 Dec 2003 20:38 GMT22
The pharmacist said after pushing the button to release the lancet into the
finger, the lancet goes into the skin and then comes out of the skin, which
would mean it has to go back into the pen, but the lancet is staying out.
Is that how it is supposed to be?  If you reuse lancets, ...

Bureaucratic Frustration02 Dec 2003 17:01 GMT36
I'm fairly new at this T2-management business. I'm also a very rusty
retired engineer.
I occasionally think sort of like Spock, much to the frustration of
those around me. A few thoughts for others more experienced and
High Ferritin02 Dec 2003 14:22 GMT2
Does anyone have experience with high ferritin levels? - my serum ferritin
has been around 760 for three years and I am being checked for haemo
chromatosis although have no other indicators for liver problems. Possibly
cause also being checked for is 'inflammation'. Am told that ...
A few thoughts about red wine02 Dec 2003 11:21 GMT22
The benefits of including a "little" red wine in the diet have often
been discussed.
But some people are concerned about the alcohol content - yet there
*are* other ways of incorporating some red wine into the diet

Statin's02 Dec 2003 10:48 GMT22
Announced Yesterday - over here - that Asprin is by far the
best [more cost effective] method of treating hypertension
and reducing incidence of heart disease over Statins.
Or is this another ploy to reduce medication purchase costs
Testing without Washing my Hand First02 Dec 2003 03:41 GMT9
I have to admit to being guilty of sometimes testing my blood without
washing my hand first. The nurse practitioner gave me a few alcohol rubs
individually packaged for me to use if I couldn't get to a sink, but I
am carefully rationing these - using them only when I am obviously ...

A 52 year old type 2 diabetics story
About one month ago I was diagnosed T2 with a BG of 474. The day I left the
doctor's office I changed my diet and began exercising. Keeping my carb
intake under 65 gms a day and spending 20 minutes on the treadmill
Bad meters?01 Dec 2003 22:36 GMT20
Hi there.  I've lately been very frustrated with how high my numbers have
been - fasting has been around 130 and the rest of the day has been higher
than I would like also (130s before eating, even though I haven't snacked
between meals).  When I went home for Thanksgiving this ...
