A1c Span18 Dec 2003 00:12 GMT28
A couple of questions on HBA1c readings.
1)  I keep reading and hearing that A1c is an indication of control over the
last 3 months.  Is this really correct, or is it a convenient round number,
potentially used to keep the number of checks down and so the costs?

Just got back from my fabulous endo guy.  My A1c is 5.2 in a normal range
of 3.? to 6.? (don't remember the decimal, but I think it's 3.4/3.5 and
6.4/6.5 or in that area).  That's down from 5.7 in October.  Oddly, I'd
felt like I'd been slacking off, but I think that what I'd ...

OT: The Jay Leno Show.17 Dec 2003 17:10 GMT2
Did anyone watch the Jay Leno show as of tuesday night? (wed. morning,
depending if you are on the east coast?) There was a lady on there
called the "Gourd Lady". She is a local lady from around where I am
from. Actually the town I work in.  She had a gourd painted with Jay's
Celiac disease and T-2 diabetes17 Dec 2003 14:43 GMT3
I keep wondering why I am the only one in this group with Celiac disease(CD)
I did a search on Google and I hope this(I pasted it) shows up if not the
fact is that 1-20
of T-1's has it and according to this, the ratio is the same in T-2's.  As a
Low carb pasta find17 Dec 2003 14:20 GMT1
Trader Joes sells Bella Vita, a low carb pasta, that has 10g net carbs per
3/4 cup dry serving, which is more than I can eat at once.  I had about a
1/3 cup serving with Newman's Tomato, pepper and spices spaghetti sauce (6g
net carbs per 1/2 cup serving), with about 2 ounces of ...
Horribly high spike after meal, what does it mean?17 Dec 2003 14:14 GMT5
I am asking for a patient in China.  Type 2.
He is using OneTouch Ultra to monitor his bg.  Before meal his bg is
8-9, not ideal but not scary either.  Two hours after meal it spikes
sometimes to 17.7.
Colds17 Dec 2003 12:48 GMT11
Anoyone have any good tips for diabetics treating colds? They're going
around like mad here and I have never had one that I knew of before being
diagnosed. I never used medicine too much before except for Nyquil and I
don't have a bottle around to check the contents. Thanks.

Are sudden, unexplained spikes in bg readings usual?17 Dec 2003 08:34 GMT31
I've been figuring that my bg was under control, but now I'm wondering
if that's really the case.
I was reading the site that's recommended for people newly diagnosed
with diabetes and saw some testing suggestions. I've been testing
Mixing Humalog and NPH in the body.17 Dec 2003 07:16 GMT1
In de.sci.medizin.diabetes recently, somebody described an "experiment"
injecting equal amounts of Humalog and (human) NPH.
She is an adult-onset T1 (or T1b?) and has a wierd regime of 18U NPH in
the morning, a few injections of regular through the day, and humalog in
Question about figures16 Dec 2003 23:55 GMT26
I've been lurking for the last few months.
I read adout peoples' BG figures.
Literature I received from the local hospital's diabetes education
