Life span of child diabetics....21 Oct 2003 21:05 GMT15
Hi, everyone.  I'm not a diabetic, but have recently met someone who is, and
has been since he was 11 years old.  He is now 35.  We were discussing him
being a diabetic and he mentioned that he doesn't know what the average life
span is for someone who has been a diabetic since ...
In case anyone's wondering....21 Oct 2003 20:58 GMT13
Yes I have been a bit quiet.
Been mega busy! Getting some exercise in, and it shows. Being out and
about in daylight is helping too, and the diabetes is securely on its
chain at the moment. Snaps now and again but no nasty numbers.
Loosing weight too fast?21 Oct 2003 20:43 GMT8
As mentioned in previous posts, I started Atkins on Monday 10-13-03.
I have done this before and had good results but not like this.
For the last 3 or 4 days I've been dropping 1 to 1.5 pounds per day.
My BG's have been way better than they have in a long time. Low to mid 130's
Glyburide21 Oct 2003 19:43 GMT4
what does it do?
I'm a type 2 and I take Metformin also and they cut the dose of
Glyburide in half when I started taking the Metformin but I was
wondering if Glyburide makes my body make more insulin which I have too
Disease: Diabetes21 Oct 2003 18:32 GMT13
Inadequate diet is the major cause of chronic diseases like cancer, heart
disease and diabetes. These modern-day plagues threaten the health and
well-being of millions around the world. Yet in many cases they can be
prevented with the help of proper nutrition.

When to Test?21 Oct 2003 17:50 GMT79
My doc says to test upon arising and before each meal.  Seems most people are
told to test _after_ meals.  Any thoughts?
In almost two months since diagnosis, my lowest reading was 96, highest was 245,
with an average of 138 mg/dl.  I do notice it's highest when I'm least active
Thanks for answering my silly exercise question21 Oct 2003 17:37 GMT3
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to answer my question.  I knew
that I should know the basic, layman answer...but, I simply couldn't recall
if I had ever heard that answer.  It took Beav to say that the glucose
couldn't be in my blood and in my muscles at the same time!  ...
morning BG readings21 Oct 2003 16:24 GMT8
My bg levels have been in the 110-120 range throughout the day, but
the early morning readings are always higher.  They vary between
139-155.  My doctor changed my meds today because she wants to get
them lower.  Is there anyone else who has the same problem who is
Uses for MiniMed Keychain Remote21 Oct 2003 15:52 GMT4
I have been using MiniMed pumps for many years, but have never even put the
keychain remote on my keychain because I thought I had no use for it.
However, I recently had a dream that a woman was using a pump with the
remote and was telling me all the benefits of it.  Thinking this ...

Swollen Feet21 Oct 2003 14:22 GMT5
I have been having severe edema of my feet for the last few months. My Dr.
increased my furosemide(Lasik) to 80 mg; I also take 40 mg Accupril, 2 mg
terazosin. What do I need to be looking out for? Thanks for your help.
Falling off the wagon...21 Oct 2003 13:35 GMT10
Ever since I was diagnosed back in April (and found
this newsgroup so I knew what I was doing),  I have
walked the straight and narrow, so to speak.  Eating
to my meter, watching my diet, etc, etc.
Questions for Canadian Pumpers concerning insurance21 Oct 2003 12:52 GMT7
I've been fighting my insurance company for almost seven months trying
to get an insulin pump.
I've been told by group member information people the pump was covered
100% as a necessary medical device, I was told the pump would be covered
