Hullo all. I'm new around here - is there a site I can find out what the
terms used mean? For example I've no idea what a glucose dump is. Or should
I just pick it up as I go along?

Just an update12 Sep 2003 20:38 GMT2
It's been a few weeks since I've posted here, and I wanted to update
everyone on my process of getting the diabetes under control.
I went to the doctor again today.  He didn't really give me any reason
as to why I'm still getting dizzy, but seemed concerned that my bloood
Atenolol - any other users out there?12 Sep 2003 18:51 GMT6
As expected my Doc has put me on BP tablets as I've been running at a fairly
constant 160 / 100 for a good while.
So, I've read the good and bad about Atenolol on the web but has anyone any
personal experiences or views of this particular drug they would care to
Andrew Chung FAQ12 Sep 2003 16:30 GMT47
An individual who purports to be a board-certified cardiologist with
an international reputation has been regularly posting to this and
other health-oriented newsgroups over the last several years.  The
posts have been under the name Andrew Chung, with an originating

Well the Admiral was busy so I saw his daughter instead. She's terrific.
Best news is, I have the "eyes of a child" healthwise. And the macula is
perfect. Sigh of relief. Major worry that.
And new glasses. My goodness the floor is a long way down now.
trans fats and cholesterol levels12 Sep 2003 00:24 GMT3
For about the last 6 months, I have made a concerted effort to remove as
much trans fats from our diets as possible.  I wouldn't use anything that
had the words *partially hydrogenated* in the ingredient list.  It seems
that this diligence has paid off.  My husband received the good ...

and in answer to the question *can eating 20 portions of fruit per day cause
Dave Groves in hospital11 Sep 2003 22:09 GMT1
Have been reading this thread for a while now.  What some fail to see
here, is that the man has a public life as someone who tries to help
those suffering from diabetes and a PRIVATE or PERSONAL life, which
has absolutely no place in this diabetes group.

Yeah, I know it's early, but I like to get things done early.  This year, I
didn't want to get stuck with a ton of candy.  I never know how many kids
will come.  We're on a military base so there are a lot of kids, but the
number can vary from year to year.
Eye, eye...I've had a call.11 Sep 2003 20:31 GMT17
I got a phone call tonight from a guy who's been diabetic for a good few
years (about 20) and he's suffering VERY badly from retinopathy. I gave him
some help and advice a while ago about his (very poor) insulin regime, which
he took some notice of (lots as it happens), but ...
