Chewable calcium and plaque11 Sep 2008 16:19 GMT1
I have had someone say that chewable calcium can significantly
increase dental plaque. Any truth to this (beyond the sugars, etc,
that may be found in such supplements)?
Thank you
How long for stitches to dissolve?  Any risks?11 Sep 2008 03:20 GMT11
I had my left rearmost upper molar extracted yesterday.  The dentist was
forced to use sutures, which shocked me.  He said they were dissolving
stitches.
How long will it take before these stitches dissolve?
How to tell if a tooth is cracked?11 Sep 2008 01:21 GMT15
Had a large filling replaced on an upper molar last year and now it is
hurting like the dickens.  Nothing shows up on the x-ray and no obvious
infection.
Is there any way to tell if a tooth is cracked without doing root canal? Or
periodontal disease in children09 Sep 2008 04:53 GMT3
Children don't get periodontal disease unless they have a genetic
condition or a systemic disease.
I don't consider gingivitis as a disease.

NTI causing anterior open bite09 Sep 2008 02:08 GMT13
I know that Boyd says about this developing in less than 5% of cases.
Wondering what is the frequency of this happening to the pros on this
newsgroup?

NTI and SSri08 Sep 2008 21:24 GMT4
Would it be advisable for a Tmd patient diagnosed with major
depression, to take an SSRI drug that has been known to cause
clenching? I have prescribed Celexa and I do not want to aggravate my
periodontal disease and dental researchers and animals08 Sep 2008 04:42 GMT4
Periodontal disease is really a disease of aging.   Children don't get
periodontal disease.   Young animals don't get periodontal disease.
The progression of periodontal disease in animals is determined by
their life expectancy.
NTI07 Sep 2008 23:58 GMT29
Im sure everybody is completely sick of my ordeal, but I was wondering
what should somebody like me do at this point, when the NTI hasnt
brought anything resembling relief or "resolution of symptoms"? Maybe
pretend that im not a patient of Dr.Boyd. I would value any helpful
Abfraction and dental researchers07 Sep 2008 04:27 GMT1
Abfraction occurs in teeth.  Cats get it (FORL), and it is seen in
prehistoric teeth.   In June I visited the ROM in Toronto and saw it
in many prehistoric teeth.  Interesting exhibit!!!  Really shows the
value of having canine teeth  and how the canine teeth protect the
clenching vs grinding07 Sep 2008 04:22 GMT3
Clenching is not the same as grinding.
Group function and balancing side function can cause grinding, but I
have no answers for preventing clenching.
Periodontal Disease07 Sep 2008 04:18 GMT6
I am 64 yrs old and relocated to New Mexico from California. My first
visit to a dentist here resulted in the dentist refusing to do any
dental work until I resolved my periodontal issues. I had some
cleaning and scaling from the periodontist, but he said I would not be
vaccine for gingivitis in animals part 107 Sep 2008 04:08 GMT3
I think the vaccine for gingivitis for animals is worthless.
David DiBenedetto, DMD
Will this vaccine prevent dogs from losing their teeth?   No.
Repost: What does the word "netcanting" mean? (a long post)05 Sep 2008 22:45 GMT12
I thought it might be worthwhile to repost this old and very lengthy
post of mine for reasons that may or may not seem obvious, given the
posts of someone else who is posting to smd with notices that he has "a
book" to share.  I can't act as though I have not also hoped that ...
Piercing Pain in Front Upper Tooth05 Sep 2008 22:24 GMT3
About an hour ago I was walking outside and out of the blue, tooth #8
got a sharp, piercing type of pain. I felt a similar pain last week in
tooth #10 but not quite as bad. I do get these pains over the years
but tonight it hurts more than usual and not steady, just zings. When
