Last October all of the teeth in my mouth became very sore. There was no throbbing, they were just sensitive to hot/cold/touch. Some teeth were worse than others, bottom right molars, front incisors. But it varied from day to day. This lasted a few days and went away.

Does anyone know the percentage of crowned teeth (ceramic) that eventually end up needing root canal or extraction? Have there ever been any studies/research done? My guess is that it is a high percentage.

The other day on a lark I asked a 93 year old I know who is in good health whether he ever had a root canal. I was surprised to hear that he did not. He once had some implants but he told me they didn't "take" so he now just wears dentures.

I am looking for an endodontist in southern CT (or anywhere in the NYC region) who uses one of the newer biocompatible root canal filler materials. The ones contacted so far use only gutta percha. Anyone here know of any? Thanks.
